Which wagtail

Hi all.

Been using the original wagtail flipper for about 5 years now & it's ready for replacement. However, things have changed in this time & I'm faced with either a slimline flipper or pivotal control flipper. Is the only difference the pivot being either on the top or bottom? And also can I still use clips to hold the pads on with these? as I make my own pads for my flippers.

In short yes. The flipper I find is a little more forgiving and if you've been using the older blue disc version you will be purchasing for all intents and purposes the same tool. The PC used properly is very precise but an accurate touch is needed at all times. Also because handle is top mounted the pad set to flip up can be problematic. Flipping under is fine.

Bear in mind that if you purchased a PC and didn't like it you can easily turn it into the original flipper with handle under ...

I'm after that new no detailing squeegee when it comes out but want it to work the same as a wagtail.

Do you know if those new no detailing channels will fit a wagtail daveyboy1 ?

I know a long time ago bingo said he had put an unger s channel in a wagtail with cableties as spacers and i know ettore channels fit a wagtail pc so worth having a play around

Will be interesting to see if they fit an unger swiveloc

Nope, they are very different

Oooooooh Yes they can /emoticons/tongue.png .
I'm using 18" and 22" Unger 'S' channels on my new Wagtail PC Handles.

You will have to drill a hole in the 'S' channel for the securing screw, and you will have to wedge some cable ties in-between the 'S' channel and the channel holder as the 'S' channel is a lot thinner than the Wagtail channel.

Watch where you drill the hole as you need to get the angle of the blade right.

The reason I tried this, is because the Wagtail channels are a bit too expensive for me at the mo.

Oh yeah....The Unger channels work like a dream in the Wagtail handles /emoticons/smile.png .

I've been using the original yellow flipper with wide alloy chanel. I only have the pad under & have read that with the pivot on top finishing off at the bottom of a window is better/more accurate? I'm not sure I want a pad held on with velcro as I make my own pads so can I still clip a pad on to the wagtail which has the pivot on top?

I agree, the Velcro is no where near as efficient as the clips. You can either buy the Orbital Flipper (handle on top, pad and clips) or The Orbital Squeegee (handle under disc mounted on wide body channel) and a pad and clips. Alternatively cleaningspot.co.uk still have stocks of the original yellow disc/pad models...I live in NZ and purchased from them just before Xmas. Great service and prompt delivery. They also carry a full range of all the new models.

Before Polz got his hand smacked from (pretty sure it's Moerman) and pulled it he had posted a video of the new channel (being used with one of Moerman's new Zero/40 handles. There is obviously a little more than angle cuts involved. It appears that the ends are plastic molded 45 tips attached (permanently apparently) to an alloy channel. I posed the question about fitting to Wagtail Discs and the answer is "Yes, no problem".

I haven't asked bob about fitting them to a wagtail but i reckon they would fit

I have a couple of vids of it in action sent to me by him and it looks an alright thickness and shape to fit a pc handle
