Which wagtail

WCF

Help Support WCF:

I'm after that new no detailing squeegee when it comes out but want it to work the same as a wagtail.
Do you know if those new no detailing channels will fit a wagtail daveyboy1 ?
Before Polz got his hand smacked from (pretty sure it's Moerman) and pulled it he had posted a video of the new channel (being used with one of Moerman's new Zero/40 handles. There is obviously a little more than angle cuts involved. It appears that the ends are plastic molded 45 tips attached (permanently apparently) to an alloy channel. I posed the question about fitting to Wagtail Discs and the answer is "Yes, no problem".

Now I'm really interested in this because the pointed end of the channel can scrape the frames, So I had been trying to fix some kind of plastic thing on to the end but without success, and arrived at the conclusion that the actual channel needed to be plastic, as you have now said. I have been playing with the idea of a plastic channel, but that's not easy as you think either.

I haven't asked bob about fitting them to a wagtail but i reckon they would fitI have a couple of vids of it in action sent to me by him and it looks an alright thickness and shape to fit a pc handle
If it's a conventional shape, although a brass channel will be too heavy, I used brass a few years ago, but it made my wrists ache. I use a Pulex alloy channel in a wagtail, it needs slight modification to make it work, but it is fine.

I was giving this a bit more thought and it occurred to me that using rubber cut a 45 angle you will not be able to turn the rubber around to make it last longer. So will that be classed as a negative as it will be added running costs to the user.

What do you think daveyboy1?

I turn my rubbers round on my modded ones smurf

They are the same each end so is the same as turning a normal rubber round

You turn it round just the same and it's OK. You have to have both ends of the channel cut at roughly the same angle. They last just the same too. One thing that I have found is that I have to use Unger hard rubbers as the soft ones don't work properly.

I get on fine with soft on my modded ones
Yep, ordinary square ends that are dog-eared are OK, but not on the pointed channels. Having said that, I do keep a squeegee with me that is angled with a soft rubber, but that's only to use on bathroom (wavy) glass, and if I do straight down blading.
