Would you buy a 8 year old Ionic system and van?

I am considering entering the window cleaning fraternity and might be purchasing a 8yr old Renault Traffic S with average mileage and looks in good condition for its age with a full service history. It includes an 8 year old Ionic system Pro 6 - 600L - Thermo pure system, hot together with a fast fill pump fitted 2012, burner cartridge replaced August 2015 and a speed liner floor. The Ionics system has been serviced regularly too.

Mine is a 115ps Trafic on a 58 plate at 170K. Still going strong.

How to do it is research the value of the van minus the equipment, then research how much a similar second hand system of equal specification will cost. Then you have the answer as to the value.

More important than vans and systems are customers, do you have enough of those to help justify the expense of the van?

Hi welcome to the forum. May I suggest before anyone says buy it how much are they asking and do you have the customer base. And I think on a personal note that ionic gear is over priced.

I am a brand new start up business with no customers as of yet obviously but would leaflet etc and am sure I would get customers. I am seriously thinking about purchasing a 8yr old Renault Traffic S with average mileage and looks in good condition for its age with a full service history. The Ionics system has been serviced regularly too. Alternatively I could potentially buy a 2 or 3 year old van and buy a brand new system i.e. Grippamax 500 with a hydro heater 5.2 kw. This would cost me more because it will be brand new. Im in a dilemma and appreciate your opinion. The Renault Traffic S van with Ionics equipment would be £11500. Thanks.

£11'000 just for equipment plus whatever other costs involved in starting and keeping you floating from the start is a hell of a lotta chedda!

Do you actually have any experience in window cleaning? Have you ever worked as a window cleaner before?

Some make it sound easy on here and for some of us it is, but it never is at the start, you will have at least 2 - 3 years getting established and that is heartache and sweat mate.

If you want to know how many fail just look at all the used gear on ebay and Gumtree by those that also decided to join this crew of deranged individuals.

Do not let me put you off but please be warned this game is no picnic in the park!

Does the offer your considering come with any other equipment e.g poles?

This cost does include the cost of the van. I do understand that it is not a walk in the park and the first year + will be hard. However, Im willing to give it a go and work very hard at it to make it a success which is why I asked for advise on whether to buy the 8 year old van and equipment or to go for something newer. The risks are still the same but the capital outlay on the existing van would obviously be less. Thanks.

Allen, Thanks for your comments. It includes 1 pole but I will probably have to buy a Gardiner pole too, some safety signs and other little bits and pieces, nothing major.

where abouts are you pepsi?,that might give us a better understanding of what you may or may not need,

for the price i honestley think its well overpriced if it doesnt include poles-good quality ones and hose reels etc then that will be another investment,

however it can be done another way and a hell of a lot cheaper and without doubt a better stystem the ionic water tank at that age may have a few issues as the guy who way making them at the time hadn't a clue-they had a few recalls and ionics basicly siliconed the leaky joints

Hi. Am Middlesex based and the average TDS reading is 500. So I would need a good quality RO and De-Ionised water purification which this Ionics system has and its also a warm water system. It seems to be well looked after. It does include a 100 mtr hose reel. Thanks.
