How do diffrent people price diffrent windows?

you have your normal three part window with three diffrent bits of glass in a row.

how do you charge in comparison if it is leaded, or georgin, or the horrable modern cross bars stuck on it?

I am sure this has been done before but i can't find a thread on it.

cheers

pricing is such a dificult one to do per windows as i have windows that can be done in 30 seconds and them other that can take a few mins,

some say £1. a window others say £1.50. depends what part of the uk your in.

i price on time, although i got a new job today and prices it wrong....! i quoted 10 for the front and 8 for the back as it had twice as many windows on the front,

but the back ending up talkiing longer then the front......as back windows wasnt easy to get too

I'll solve that for mate......just swap your figures around......8 for the front and 10 for the back.....

At least your getting more for the back than you are for the front :Image9: :Image13: :Image13: .

I always work on time per window. I know how long each window will take in my head. I use a simple quote form and then walk round with it and tot it all up. Works a treat.

I always add an extra £3 on then. I then deduct it showing customer and give em a£3 discount.

i like it.....

You can underprice work by being rushed by the customer. I jumped in last week and said next door is £12 so will you be. Luckily it's easier. But then she wants every 10 weeks.

So how do you deal with the diffrent types of windows on your form?

They are just blank boxes mate. I know a normal

Average sized window will take x amount of mins. So I just sorta tot up the time.

Real leaded windows (more rare) and Georgian (more common) will take longer to clean; up to 10%-50% longer for me depending on the size/shape of the property and the amount of window frames.

1,000 individual Georgian panes per hour is a decent working pace. That would be around 55-60 frames the time includes setting up & packing away and moving from window frame to window frame. Fewer window frames or smaller properties make sure you allow for your set up/pack up time.

If you use a Double Trim brush, worn brush or soiled brush, or a brush that is just un-suitable - too big, no spread, short bristle, absorbent etc allow a lot more time.

I just look at the whole house and say £14, £16, £18 or whatever. All these formulas counting windows end up being too variable. I just look at the house and estimate the time it will take. That's a twenty minute house, that's a thirty minute house and price accordingly.

Leaded and things like that don't make any difference when you are wfp.

That’s the way to do it Duncs; the benefits of doing this are plenty. You can work your prices more accurately & confidently. Building a better round with each customer is so much easier, refine your cleaning method bit by bit, see the difference in equipment, mostly brushes but poles as well, even if the time cleaning is the same some equipment takes more effort and will make you more tired later in the day, slowing you down so keep an eye out for this; above all you will always value your time now.
