I did contemplate that one but in the end decided do it the hard way because of the pole reach to get to the guttering above the conservatory so my ladder was next to it. Would have meant I then have to try pushing it out of the end aswell but was hard enough to break it up and dragging it back to me.

Still I like your thinking as I've taken many an end cap off in the past

I have one of those too that came with a set of drain rods but found it's no good at all for domestic gutter clearing work.

why did u found it to be no good?

ive found it to work good, mainly because as you push the pole away from yourself it folds out of the way of brackets etc only to open up on the back stroke as i draw the crud towards me .

That drop scraper is to heavy for a start and to big to to fit in most 4" domestic half round gutters I do due to the shape/style & overhang of the tiles. I even struggle at times using a half round and even square line progutter tool so also have old ones cut down a bit so not to catch on the underside of the tiles when pulling the **** back to me. Roofers are a bloody pain in the **** as overhanging tiles are the bane of my life /emoticons/biggrin.png

I would defo recommend progutter tools though as are specifically designed for the job in hand. That is if you can fit then in the gap

i suppose the fold down gutter scraper could do with improving by the square top edges taking off with a grinder - but what i love about it is that you can push it along and when it hits an obstruction it folds out of the way

im surprised you find it to be heavy Smurf ,maybe yours is an earlier model. iv 2 in my van and i dont think they weigh more than the weight of a hens egg if that

Another one for gutter pro, used for the first time last week and made the job a breeze. As for pricing, this was my first quote so went in at £60 she said fine. Thought that was a fair price to be honest

Found this old post and thought I'd comment...........

Had to unblock a downspout nearly 3 storeys up and 2m away from the ladder (due to pitched roof extension) today and the only way I could do it was by making this up - cable tied and taped a spike to the small progutter tool attached to a Harris pole.

Worked a treat too, although the spike is a bit long.

As Smurf says, 'cable ties, tape and scissors - you never know when you'll need them'.

Other useful things to carry in the van at all times is cable ties, gaffa tape and a pair of scissors as you never know when you will be needing them.

Nice one....

Just don't let frank drop that onto a conservatory roof.... Oops! /emoticons/biggrin.png
