I hate cardio, I like swimming but messes with my knee too bad now, used to be a long distance swimmer when I was younger, used to swim a lot for charity etc, was going to do the channel at one point, then I found girls, drink and drugs /emoticons/tongue.png

When i was young i was a qualified (well still am) canoeing instructor and would think nothing of swimming the whole welsh harp reservoir that runs between wembley and hendon

It was part of the test

800 lengths of an Olympic pool was the most I did if I remember right, forget how many miles it was now, took most of a day.

Used to do a lot of diving as well.

this may turn into a monty python sketch...

I have a 25 yard swimming certificate.../emoticons/biggrin.png

I think it was recently posted but here we go again...

What i find is that i have better workouts on workdays than on weekends. My body is sort of up and running, and although i don't feel energetic before going i break PRs. On Sunday however i feel weak and tired even just from warming up lol

I could never swim that sort of distance but was always happy around water

Swimming, surfing, canoeing etc

The welsh harp is only a couple of miles but that was ok

I agree workdays are best or anyday if you go first thing before your body realises you don't want to go lol

I don't have prs and don't record what i lift

All i know is i ache like **** next day so it is working

I attend the gym regularly as that way I can eat what the hell I like without worrying about it. However now the goal posts shift slightly so it is bi-carb shots and cutting out the meat for a few months as I need to drop three stone by winter, should be doable.

I'm not allowed to do 1 rep maxs because of my heart, but before my knee was fubar I was squatting around 150kg for reps, not massive I know.

I'm not built for squatting though to be fair, my legs are really long, from hip to knee is really long, I struggle with form.

I recently started the 5x5 routine its made a massive difference to my stamina and after having an office stroke driving around alot job it was a massive wake up starting window cleaning I'm glad I was doing some training before I started again.

What do you do Green??

Weights??

I would cut most of the carbs and eat the meat to shed weight

I lived on chicken and broccoli when i was boxing

Pretty low on carbs, not into weights, dont need anymore bulk just got to burn off the fat, mostly treadmill, 5-8k failing that a few dozen lengths of the pool or if I can find someone to play me an hour or so of squash, massive calorie burner.

It's my love of junk foods and sugar filled drinks that's killing me.

Yep exactly the same for me too!

Can't beat squash for a workout

My brother and i sometimes book a court out for a double timeslot and that nearly kills us both

I was actually sick in the gym once years ago through squash

The freeweight room was opposite in my old gym

1 game of squash straight into weight room

Couple of supersets

Run up and down stairs twice

Pick up medicine ball above head and throw to the ground 10 times and back into squash court

Started 3rd squash game and chucked everywhere

Oops

Quit the gym last September after regularly lifting weights for quite a few years. Elbow was causing so much pain it was either the gym or window cleaning that had to stop. Pains almost cleared up so I may rejoin in the near future.

Wrap it up when lifting mate

Gotta be carefull with your joints

I am like the walking dead when the cold weather comes due to bad shoulder elbow and knee

Did have serious lower back issues too (slipped disc )but sorted that by using the gym machines to lift weight to excercise lower back

Now have a solid core and back problem dissapeared

I enjoyed going to the gym but our little village gym got so busy you had to wait to long for equipment but I do miss it
