Not got a scoobie, but I know that in the resin you have anion n canion n one of them can run out, but still give reading of 000, so maybe it helps that out. I maybe talking rubbish, as I have no idea how anything works:whistle: don't judge me.

been in touch with the lad n he says it just gets dirt particles out of the water & so makes your resin last longer, got it set up now but i change resin every 4 mth about so be a while till i can say if it works lol

If using a hydrant to fill your tank then a sediment filter is advisable so as not to block the resin pores. If you have a lot of sediment in your water then it is worth while having this before your di vessel. It will not bring your ppm down.

Carbon filter only takes out chlorine but also good if you have chlorine in water as this will damage resin.

Chlorine when added to water evaporates further down the line so if your are close to where they treat the water you will have chlorine in the water and you will see a small reduction in ppm. If you are further down the line the Chlorine may well have evaporated therefore you will see no ppm drop.

With our council you get a standpipe with a meter. You get charged a standing fee for the privilege and then for the amount of water you use. I'm not sure if they take you word for the reading or if you have to get it read at the council offices though.
