I'm trying to figure out how this will effect me. I can put things in place not to have any contact with customers. But I need to work...they are not supporting self employed! So can I work?

The very fact that they have said for us to keep working makes me think we will get shafted tomorrow and more than likely be forced to work on. Especially if you haven't had your business up and running with decent profits over the last 3 years

We do not just go to one location like a warehouse worker...we go to multiple addresses and if we have contracted the virus unknowingly  we are taking that virus with us....the point of Government calling for people to stay at home.....most of them do not visit so many places as us in a day!!. So us not working is as or more important.

If we end up without a financial package the Government is causing the potential of opposite of what they want to achieve  with their current "advice" on only going out for exercise once a day etc.

And probably WFP where dragging hose through properties etc and moving on to another multiple times a day will cause contamination possibly !!!

Posties are still allowed to work, was talking to ours yesterday she was wearing gloves no doubt the same pair of gloves all day, she isn't allowed to go out at all after work no doubt goes to 100's of houses a day,

she said her husband took their dog for a walk the day before and got questioned by the police he was mile away from home and told to go home as he is apprentley only allowed to walk the dog round the block pile of ? some people on social media are saying only allowed 1 hour exercise a day, think plenty in power are doing what they want

The business reporter on Breakfast news just said £1,700 a month would be the payout, this will be complicated as they need to filter through who is or isn't working or who has been told not to work under the current guidance, no payout potentially till the end of April

Loopholes to say no you aren’t entitled, u could have worked!

I heard the Banks are at it again just like 2008. They are asking business owners to put up their homes as collateral before they give them emergency loans or increase their funding. Banks never learn and they wonder why we don't like most of them. Business owners now have a mind and heart decision, I guess a lot more small businesses will fold next month.

Most likely, but as I have said earlier in this post it will take weeks for the government to have something in place by that time I will be eligible for a payout and we will all be in lock down, also my 20 years reputation will be 100% in tact.

I have sent text messages to my customers where I can telling them why I have stopped been 100% positive support so far will let others know by leaflet drop . I personally don't want to be responsible for infecting my customers want them to be alive ,dead customers don't pay .

Im going out to do a couple today. They were desperate to get them done as they'd left it a while. Much, much more danger me walking down the shop later than doing these. Wont see them and dont have to touch gates or doors or anything. There is the risk of getting lip off people, saw on the news even a hospital worker getting lip off someone, but there you go. Be a quick job, and then me done, Im guessing by next week they may stop us, but they need to be crystal clear so the public know to not give grief.

Yes that worries me. I’m doing as the health workers are begging us to do and staying home. However, in eight to nine weeks when the money is being paid out, will the government say ‘not you, we said you could go to work’.

I’d like to reply to those MPs, you watch these doctors and nurses crying and pleading for us (just watched one on GMTV) to stay at home to save lives, and then see how you feel jumping in the van.

For those self employed who are skint, I do understand the pressure to go and work, but for those with a few grand in the bank, I personally don’t think it would harm them to have a bit of time off.
Going to work to add to your savings during a pandemic cannot be right.

I’m in a fortunate position as my wife has a well paid job. But I can honestly say, hand on heart, if I wasn’t in that position, and going to lose a couple of grand to stay at home doing what’s morally right, I would do it. No matter what the laws are.

I just saw on tv, its likely a third of self employed will get no help. Any who hitherto honestly declared all, if they get sod all help would be morally justified in the future, not declaring all. Just my opinion and I appreciate we all differ.

I'm in a similar position, except the wife bit. I've probably got enough money set aside that I could go a year without earning, as long as they kept the bars and restaurants shut.

Where all of this doesn't sit easily with me is firstly, doing this job following Government guidelines I am less at risk then shopping. Secondly apart from statutory benefits, sick pay for 1 week, child allowance and years ago mortgage relief, I've never received a benefit.

Thirdly, which is the main one, I feel we're being mugged off and that is starting to make me angry.

Not that I disagree, bit how do you feel we are being mugged off? By mixed messages and probably very little help meaning that many will simply go back to work.

Save any posts you can see where people are being named and shamed for working. Also the government's original video that said key workers as well as the mirrors article saying only key workers can work.

The misinformation from the government created an unsafe working environment for you.
