Do not go gentle into that good night,

Old age should burn and rave at close of day;

Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,

Because their words had forked no lightning they

Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright

Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,

Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,

And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,

Do not go gentle into that good night.

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight

Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be ***,

Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

And you, my father, there on the sad height,

Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.

Do not go gentle into that good night.

Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Independence day /emoticons/tongue.png

They did it wrong though the Aliens, they tried to enter by force, in independence day 2 they make a trade agreement that slowly becomes an undemocratic monster that in turn opens Americas borders so they can invade without a fight.

Hang on a minute that sounds familiar?!?

As an ex-copper I have been called all these things and more besides. I have served the crown since I was 18. I have been a soldier, police officer, foster carer and now a Scout Leader. I speak my mind and have always fought my corner. I have always protected/educated/cared for others and my work is not yet done.
good to see ya became a scout leader

remember ya mentioning u were thinking about this

soooo, when the English take their language, culture, architecture to the Americas, the Antipodes, much of Africa, subcontinent of India, parts ofAsia and list goes on and on, then that's just dandy? It's very hypocritical.
Wales is in the same political union as England and has seen a massive influx of English in the last couple of decades, particularly in mid Wales where I'm from. Personally I think that this is for the better. There are even a lot of English moving over the border in order to avoid tuition fees for their children going to university. Benefit tourists!
Also wanted to point out a glaring error here as well, it wasn't "the English" that did these things, it was "the British" Wales and Scotland included.

Er yeh, because they were colonised by the English?????

It was even illegal to speak Welsh in Wales at the time. But this is a whole different issue.

Let's not detract from the UKIP campaign which in farage's own words is drivel.

I'm sure all nations and people's back to the dawn of time have committed offences and atrocities to their neighbours, that's part of the key to humanity's 'success'. English bashing seems unreasonable, is reverse hatred and perpetual hand wringing atonement and complacency justifiable?

SPC. You lost this debate the moment you said you weren't voting. If you can't even decide on a party to vote for then any argument past that point is invalid. But you've done exactly what every lefty does when you say about farage spouting drivel...

Lefty asks question > Farage speaks a policy > lefty tries to discredit > farage gives a solid argument backed up by stats and anecdotal evidence (i.e what most people feel/experience) > lefty says its descriminatory/racist/rubbish/drivel, without giving any better solution > lefty moves on to the next question ....and the cycle continues.

On the subject of our history as a nation. Yes we did some bad things, but it was a different world back then. It was dog eat dog, and life was cheap. I'm not going to have guilt over things done way before my time, by people I havent even traced my family tree back to. It doesn't mean we owe the world a favour.

No.

I believe it is my right to abstain?

You don't know which constituency I live in, nor do you know which parties are putting forth a candidate. Unless you're magic.

Regarding 'drivel'. I was merely quoting farage's own words, when he was asked about his party's previous manifesto. Surely you remember?

I wish we could all sit in the pub and have this debate!

Looks like we're gonna get more con/lib coalition anyways. We had our proportional representation vote a few years back so that won't be happening again. Bummer for UKIP.

Good luck on poling day!!!!!!!!

You've clearly stated this in the present tense. He was talking of his old manifesto, so stop trying to do the usual twisting of information to suit your stance.

Of course its your right to not vote, but if you can't stand by any party and say its better, and therefore worth your vote, then why should we listen to/value any political views you hold? Go and start up a green party thread, since most of what you have spoken rings true with what they believe.

All I've done is try to provide you reasoned debate in an amicable manner. I'm sorry that you feel uncomfortable about having your political views challenged. I believe it's healthy and necessary for society, to do so.

I shall refrain from reading and posting on this thread.

No hard feelings.

Relax, I was trying to make a point, not have a go, there's no hard feelings at all here mate, and it has been an amicable debate for the most part. Don't stop posting, I'm just making the point that you need to have a better foundation to base your argument off, since if you don't stand for anything enough to vote, then its a waste of time. Your views are very reminiscent of the green party, and a bit libdem, yet you wont support them. Everyones replied to your critisisms, and yet when they give a reasoned response, you just dismiss and move on to the next, much like the media does, thats all I was saying.

our nige was great this morning ..

he just let the others slug it out../emoticons/biggrin.png

my wife is in the not voting camp.....

its once every five years.....and we fought world wars to get that right....yes ..A LOT OF PEOPLE GOT BLOWN TO BITS..in the believe of our democratic right .

..which they duly exercised after the last war by dumping poor winnie out in the cold after all he had done...

there is always someone to vote for.../emoticons/biggrin.png

me likes some green policies me likes some labour conservative policies and even one or two liberal policies...not bothered about the raving loony party though....

see I liked listening to andy burnham, this morning he was talking about stopping gavs problem,..I have open views...its just...my vote this time has never altered from day one.

and I live in hope on may 7th.../emoticons/biggrin.png

You see again the English are the bad guys.

If you actually look into the history of things, including Bravehearts (which is almost 100% fiction) time the Welsh and the Scottish were happy as Larry raiding English towns and villages, but when we finally turned round and kicked their arses we were the bad guys.

Wales and Scotland were more than happy to join with us in creating the largest Empire the world has ever known, in those days that was what all countries tried to do, we just happened to be the best at it.

Also lets not forget, look at all the countries the British colonised nearly all of them are doing incredibly well and are still part of the commonwealth and still have our Queen as their head of state, compare that to the places Spain for example colonised, without exception all **** holes.

and nobody has said congrats to our royals..../emoticons/biggrin.png

oh that baby george is so beautiful...

so proud to be born in this country and see the union jack flying above the palace

not much of a history buff but wikki says....

The origins of the earlier flag of Great Britain date back to 1606. James VI of Scotland had inherited the English and Irish thrones in 1603 as James I, thereby uniting the crowns of England, Scotland, and Ireland in a personal union

so you mean....the scots kicked it off...

now just wish I could say aye jock and get away with it../emoticons/biggrin.png

At least you put the union flag the right way up cheapie

It annoys me when a lot of people get it wrong without knowing

And it's only the union jack when it's on a ship

Yep cheapy, the Scots formed the UK, kind of ironic in that they want to split it up.
