Following on from a hijacked thread, I'm starting a new one. This is how I do it, it's not necessarily the best way, but its my way and I'm picky lol.
Firstly my three big no's
Ok I am first going to apologies as car cleaning is kinda my thing and I hate to see people by doing my way, tht not to say your way is wrong lol.....
I would never ever ever recommend you use any kind of brush on a car, even a wfp brush made specifically for it. You know sometime you see cars with all those swirly marks on them - that's from auto car washes.... And they will never fully come out, same applies to any brush..... Over time it will swirl and dull the paint work.
Secondly - never ever ever use a washing up fluid of any kind to wash a car - they contain acids and other nasty substances that will eat away at your paint.....see all those cars with rusty arches......fairy!!! There are some exceptions like the ecover and some gentle on hand ones.
Thirdly - I hate the use of jet washes....there not bad if used on a lowish pressure from a distance...but I've seen what they can do and wouldn't recommend it!!!
I get pretty much everything from: http://www.carchem.co.uk/
Seriously good stuff.
So for a mini valet I'd usually:
Dust.
Interior widows.
Hoover
Use a lint roller to get anoying bits off.
Wipe the door sills clean.
Spray snow foam over the whole car using a hand held pump sprayer leaving it for 3minutes...rinse using a seperate spray.
Clean the wheels now before washing rest of car so if any dirt flicks up it gets rinsed off.
Two buckets half full, one with water, one with you shampoo, using a hand mitt (not a sponge) dip shampoo, rub on car, dip in water, dip in shampoo, rub on car..... Top half first, lower section after.
Rinse with the sprayer that just has water in(its a weed type sprayer)
Dry with a couple of micro fiber towels.
I then use a spray on wax using a micro fibre to rub in and a different micro fibre to buff shinny.
Do the plastics.
Dress the tyres.
(Think that's it)
My mondeo (with buggy and car seat and **** in boot that has to be taken out) takes about 40 minutes start to finish, packing up and setting up takes about 2 minutes either end as its all in one basket in order with a section for dirty clothes.
