Yeah often with those free hosts you don't get you own domain or work email. Which I think is a must when having a business. It seems more professional.
Yes Gav, you are right in many cases you have to use their domain, but I bought my own domain and direct that to their servers, so no issues on that front. Lolls like the free hosting is history for new sites but as mine already running, they are honouring the free hosting!!

It can be very inexpensive, if you use a build your own site. Our's cost about £18 per year.
So what site did you use to create your website I am now looking into creating one but just looking to get a few sites to try ?

Kool I will have a look, is it simple to use ? Because everyone think young people are good on computers but I must be the odd one out. I only know the real basics (turn it on and off ) really so need something pretty user friendly

Yes very easy. My wife sorted it out at the start (she is 24) Even I can go in and make changes, add photo's etc! (I'm 43) /emoticons/wink.png

:thumbsup:Sounds good to me then will have a sit down on computer over the weekend see what I can do cheers for the help /emoticons/smile.png

mines with vistaprint. i started with them after another windie told me how easy it was to set it up with them if you are a real computer dummy . iv had mine must be 3 or 4 yrs now and the cost has only risen a quid or so in that time,i think i pay 8 quid now per month and it was 7 quid start off . it never brings in floods of work but at least 2 jobs a week www.jonnywindows.co.uk

I'd advise avoiding yola/wix/vistaprint etc - - get a professional hosting package (www.tsohost.com do one for £15 a year) and install wordpress in in.

You can build any type of website in wordpress,.. its very easy to use, very well supported & will always rank better in google that the same site built in a "Sitebuilder" interface from a diy website provider.

Yola has served us well and increased our customer base no end.

We hold a top postion in google on page one, so I think yola is worth a look.

yeh its very strange in cyber space....i did a lot of ...freaking out...why the hell does it do that...it seems they go out of their way to make it as complicated as possible.../emoticons/biggrin.png

I no lol wish I still spoke to some of my old friends from school a couple them were training as wen designers last time I saw them !

You could try making your own like I did.

Check out YouTube videos by 'Tyler Moore' he teaches how to do a website from start to finish with no steps skipped.

I'm a novice on computers but made my own after watching his tutorials. Not a window cleaning but karate...

Took a weekend, but not too bad for a lad that really does not bother with computers very much at all.

It's a WordPress platform by the way.

Give you a little tip which is best you don't put the words like "site under construction" on a new site as it's not good for seo.

You can build a basic site then add more content and pages to it whenever you want like I do without mentioning it's still under construction.

Cheers amigo, the website is in my wife's hands. Better not interfere!

Did two more jobs last night, one of them a brewery!

I defo would not want to upset my missus either /emoticons/biggrin.png

I bet that brewery job was a struggle to do knowing all that booze was there but you could not drink any.

I don't mean to drag up an old thread, but what keywords are potential clients using to find you?

'Town Window Cleaner' or 'Window Cleaner Town' or Google Places results?

I'd be interested to hear, just in case I'm missing out on any /emoticons/smile.png

It varies from area to area - and you may even find a neighbouring town gets a lot more searches than your own, (if its close enough to travel then you can monopolise on this info) - use the Google keyword planner tool to research exactly what phrases are searched near you. /emoticons/wink.png
