We've hired a painter to emulsion all of the interior walls in our house. He gave his price and we accepted it. Tomorrow he will be finished. He has added £20 for masking tape and filler. I've questioned this with him as surely they are tools he needs to do his job? I stated that I don't turn up at customers houses and ask for water, ladders and soap as they are my tools for the job. He said he'd knock the £20 off, but this has left the relationship a bit sour.
On a side note, on his first day he turned up and asked if we had bought masking tape. If I was doing the job I wouldn't need masking tape as I think I have a steady hand. It never occurred to me to think I should have to buy any. On that day he decided to go home and get some tape and start the next day. Do you think he's mugging me off?
