Are you a moaner ?

There's not really anyone to moan to. I just get on with it no matter what issues occur...

I mean when your out getting something to eat maybe. You left a bit of food as you didn't quite like it. Do you complain?. If you got to much froth in your pint. Would you go back to the bar and complain etc?.

Good question. No I just let it slip. I`m making really good money doing not many hours in a low stress job. Haven`t really much to moan about. Maybe treading in dog poo!
I had a cracker last Friday.

First job of the day, round the back and grab the pole hose to turn the univalve on and my hand keeps slipping. That's weird but I'm still looking up at this point and keep trying but keep slipping.

Then I made the mistake of looking down and to my horror, wet sloppy dog poo all over my hand, top, shorts, pole hose and pole base. Took me 20 minutes to clear off to get on with my day then 20 minutes disinfecting everything when I got home. Nightmare. Kept getting a whiff of poo throughout the day.

This particular job isn't normally a problem but this poo was 'off piste' so didn't get scooped.

Only ever complain if I've had really good food and service before. If it's a 1st visit and 💩 I'd just say it wasn't very good and won't be back

Would you complain though if it had been good service before and good food, but out of the 3 courses and drinks, one thing about the food you didn’t like but the rest were okay ?. Say, 3 undercooked chips but the rest were fine.

I wouldn't complain but I'd mention it. If it happened again then I'd complain and if it happened again I'd stop going

If I go somewhere and it's bad I tend not to go back but leave it at that unless for example say if I find hair in the food I complain and get a refund.

In general I'm meaning, do you complain about things when your out ?. Or do you just let it slide and not bother you ?.
Yes and no. I moan/rant at myself if a job is going badly and it's my own fault (I work with my wife and she does say I am hard on myself). Or if a customer says "I've only got small conservatory" etc and you get there and it's like the greenhouse at Kew gardens. I do moan but I also do get on with the job, rather than letting it slow me down even more. But I try not to complain if someone does something wrong by mistake, especially if it's a shop or restaurant or something when 99% of the time it's not their fault anyway.

I've been looking at studies about how how we complain, seems the vast majority who isn't happy, don't complain and just let it go without saying anything.

I've read before on here where people think they do a fantastic job, and point to the fact that they don't get complaints as a measure to base it on, no complaints doesn't mean that everyone's happy with the job done that day.

Does anyone have a quality control process in place?. Check x amount of jobs done by employees per week etc?. That's the only way you could really be sure that the jobs getting done correctly.

This is an interesting point and yes I agree not all who are unhappy will complaine . We have a quality control of sorts I go and randomly look at jobs the guys have done and as I bump into customers I ask them is everything ok and are they happy , so far never had a customer say there is a problem usually they say I have been meaning to get you us to do xyz so it leads to more work . We do get the odd complaint probably had 4 since Covid , most of the time it’s been down to dirt on the inside 😂 or a window has been missed by mistake but that’s very rare .

How do you check the top windows ?, do you ask to go inside the customers house, or use a ladder?. I dont think we will do all the windows to a good enough standard every week, and if employees start thinking that since there not getting anything said to them by the customers then thats how they will carry it on to the next customer, even checking 10 random houses a week, not every window on the house, 2 or 3 on each one to keep them on there toes.

Unless your customers are somehow different from every other person then studies have shown that they wouldnt.
Most of my customers don't know who I am as it is done through a Property Management Company. These residents complain about anything, as the vast majority detest paying their Management charges. I had an old boy come out today complaining I hadn't cleaned his sills properly so I asked him to show me which sills were his. He said I'd "missed a snail" when I got there there was a snail that had just crawled onto his sill. When I explained that it wasn't possible for me to have removed all the cobwebs, 3 monthly wash, and leaves but miss the snail he said "okay"

He then complained that he hadn't been informed we were coming so I showed him my email to the PM company dated October 1st stating I would be there 8am on Friday October 18th. When he saw it he said so it's not your fault and then started to say how bad the PM company was.

I assure you the vast majority of them will complain, I have to take a photo, that has to be time stamped, with my van and block of flats in at every block I do, one site has 28 blocks, as residents regularly say we haven't turned up, but they're not complaining about dirty windows as they have to send send photos of the dirty windows before we have to return.
