Bank Holiday Queen

WCF

Help Support WCF:

Right now I can't see businesses shutting down like on other bank holidays businesses need to keep going and earning money with everything that has happened in the last 2 years or so and with a recession been on the cards, considering the royals usually do what they want why can't they have the funeral on a Saturday they are so detached from the working classes that they have no concept of what it's like to lose a days wage or the effect of the cost of living crisis will have on people and businesses as it's business owners that will be taking a loss

yeh but, at least he doesn't have to pay liz back now, on a more serious note, i'll not be working on the monday out of respect like many others have said the op is/was asking for i guess guidance on this and whether to work or not, my customers are more of the elderly type, born into the royalty being people you looked up to and many like myself have served so we uphold respect on these certain days.
one question, if you worked on the monday- a day of national greiveing, how would your present and future customers view you as a person and a business?.
in all honesty if you turned up on the monday to clean my windows, you'd not be doing them on the day or ever again.
that of course is my opinion and, i'm entitled to that mate, just lose a days income, most of us are due to respect.
catch up during the week if you need to just don't be working the monday in my opinion.
Remember this Kevin?
Bit of a hypocrite if we worked

“I swear by almighty God that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, her heirs and successors and that I will as in duty bound honestly and faithfully defend her Majesty, her heirs and successors in person, crown and dignity against all enemies and will observe and obey all orders of her Majesty, her heirs and successors and of the generals and officers set over me.”

I like Monday's off anyway, its like my Saturday. I generally do work around my estate at weekends and have a long lie Monday. Getting more shelving this week so looks like Monday could be a nice day to rip out old stuff in hut and fit the new stuff. Its all go and getting everything in order so I can find stuff on shelves the correct size. ?

I can't believe you're getting so wound up about having a day off. Firstly the Royal Family didn't make it a Bank Holiday and even if you're not a Royal fan, this is fairly obvious, the fact the Queen virtually worked till the day she died has got to be worth some respect. The Bank Holiday, I believe, is optional and getting the day off is up to the Company. If you're so hard up work the Saturday

"This bank holiday will operate in the same way as other bank holidays, and there is no statutory entitlement to time off. Employers may include bank holidays as part of a worker’s leave entitlement."

Not practical to work a Saturday on most of my rounds due to parking and access issues, I've too much work on and it's just a ball ache I can do without when I've also got personal stuff going on as well

Quite a few of the major players are closing or operating reduced hours. Aldi, Sainsburys, B&Q, Homebase, Primark etc.

The social club I cleaned today is opening as usual and expecting a good turn out.

It is a nuisance to the self employed admittedly.
I can imagine a windie turning up at my mums just as the queen is about to meet her maker.
I think the windie would be following the queen!
We earn decent dough, just have a day off. ???‍??

i do dave, remember the oath as plain as day and the captain who swore me in, i think i was 18 and a half back then, many years ago i must say.

Clearly it is down to each individual to do what they feel is correct. The Queen has been one of the few stables things in this country my entire life. She put duty to her country first and carried huge respect and admiration the world over. Personally i will never forget the opening of the 2012 Olympic games and the film of James Bond escorting the Queen to the opening. That was one of many occasions she showed a less serious side and thatshe had a great sense of Humour. Monday is not so much about Monarchy for me Its about showing respect for a Fabulous person who kept her promises. Spring (Europe) like may Businesses will be closed next Monday. Equally there will be businesses that remain open. Each must do what feels right for them and their business

You sound like a right laugh ?

ouch, actually no one knows when Jesus was born. It’s thought that it was sometime in autumn though so September, is near enough.
You don’t work on Christmas Day, out of respect for your customers, so that’s my reasoning behind not working this Monday.
