Best way to foot the ladder

Does anyone have any suggestions on the best way to foot a ladder when working single man.

Yes those ladder matrix are very good. I don't do much ladder work but I have ladder leveller mats and they are good too. To be honest @Harryd I'm not sure I'd be keen to work single man on a ladder all day, but there is equipment like this that helps alot. Avoid slopes, uneven ground - and wooden decking is absolutely lethal when it's wet or icy. You can only do your best. When I started traditional if I was unsure I used to say to a customer I'd squeegee any difficult to reach windows (like up side alleys or over conservatories) on an unger pole, but couldn't guarantee they'd look as good as the others. Nobody ever complained.
