Different brush heads

I tried it on fake georgian sash windows thinking it would be good for the side channels where the windows slide up and down

Didn't touch the dirt

Then tried on conny roof with the idea od getting the sides of the upvc bars

Worked just the same as a normal sill brush

Each to their own though.. i didn't like it

Funnily enough we were cleaning a house we do every few years and it had old sash windows. I was using the sill brush as it was working better than my normal brush. That's when I got to thinking that my brush would have been better with 'whiskers'.

Reminded me of the experience of one cleaner many 'moons' ago who decided to remove all the bristles from his Vikan brush. He then removed all the bristles from another brush which he liked the lightness of the brush stock and painstaking replaced them with the Vikan brush bristles. He later reported that it didn't work. :1f61e: I can't recall how he 'secured' the Vikan bristles in the 'new' brush stock though.

I quite like my Gardiner sill brush, but it just too heavy for everyday work for me. What that one needed was some bristles on the side like the new Gardiner sill brush now available.

.
It isn't that hard to attach bristles really. You need something small but strong and pointed to prise out the clip that secures the old bristles. After you've removed it you're just left with a hole. Position the replacement bristle with the wire clip over the hole, put a small flathead screwdriver on it and tap it with a hammer a few times and it's secured. There's nothing to stop you drilling your own holes in the sides and inserting extra bristles there.

Saying that, I like the look of the new universal brush so I'm going to buy one to see if it's better and to replace the supreme I use (which I really like but it's no good for sills)

Spuce, it was Bluefrog and he used superglue

You have a good memory.

I was watching the thread with interest in those days as I considered doing the same with the stock of a Bentley brush.

But at around the same time Gardiners introduced the Superlite brush range so thoughts of modifying brushes were quickly dispelled.

Jp (Bluefrog) is an internet friend, although I found it strange at the time. If I ever get the superglue out, it gets everywhere!
