Just wonder if its just the way they are, the ezsnap push fits. Mine hasnt had that much use, but when I change over from back pack to van mount hose reel in the course of work, the ezsnap is getting really hard to push in.

wonder how normal this is, what sort of lifespan they have. Had my set up a year but only work part time so they've hardly had a hammering.

Anyone find different fittings better? Cheers all

kev.

yeh think will have to, pack of 10  i reckon, and matching o clips, need a brush while Im there, Prob something else but cant think of it at mo.

You've done well for it to last a year!! Next time you go on Gardiners site buy a job lot along with other consumables.
Oh yeh, meant to say, is it both male and female bits wear down the same or one more than other? cant tell by looking at them

I used to have to change mine a couple of times a year. They feel great when new but quickly lose that sweet click when pushed together.

I don’t use them now though. Just use JG connectors. Cheaper and simpler to use for my needs

It is recommended to replace both male and female at the same. I Usually change just the female as I can’t be arsed changing the male most of the time.

Yes since following marko067 and Davy B advise things as much better easier and much more simple.

The ezsnap female is just small ballbearings that move in and out with the movement. Spraying with silicon spray each week should keep them good but it you never do it then they will just seize up. But who can be bothered after a hard week WFP?

You are lucky getting them to last a year we get through them in about 6-8 weeks , generally difficult to connect to the pole hose or won’t shut water off when disconnecting the quality of them is very poor and yes we do change the males at the same time , apart from poles I would say it’s one of the most expensive outlays I buy about a dozen at a time

yes maybe give them a go. To be honest mine will still work but is a pain now so will order some. it hasnt had heavy use as on average I only do about 1 whole day a week, or 2 or 3 half days.

pop some silicone grease into the female fitting specifically around the bearings and all will be fine had mine on the hose for over a year now with no problems at all, just when they become stiff/hard to connect squirt some more in,the problem arises not because of cheap fittings but your water is gradually making the bearings in the female fitting run dry

heres a link to what I use.

it'll make the fitting run like new again

I thought there might be something suitable in my old dads shed, found this stuff called 151 hi tech super grease, seems to do the job well. ?  :1f44d:

I've been using mine for over two years now and works just fine. A spray of PTFE lube every now and then when it's hard to connect, helps it back on track.

I also try to carry the end of the hose back to the car before reeling in, so it doesn't get banged up as much dragging along the ground.
