Hi guys, so i purchased a van with complete set up from a retired window cleaner who purified his water straight into the tank through 2 massive DI VESSELS, I’m not sure what the capacity is but they are heavy to move. I am still using them as they are producing 000 water but wondered what size DI I should buy (11ltr or 25ltr)? And would it be better to purify water into tank or on the way out of tank? I live in the Scottish Borders so water is medium soft (reads about 95) and I am using the pole maybe 1 day a week just now as still do allot of traditional. Any advice would be really appreciated. Cheers.

If for the short term you are happy to stick with your current set up it would be better to produce pure on demand so fill tank with tap water and produce after tank I think @Nudel uses this method.  But I agree with @Part Timer long term you will possibly be better off with a RO it all depends how much you end up spending on resin in the next few months.

I normally use RO with storage in basement. But I have mounted the DI in the van after the tank so if/when I run out of pure on the more work heavy days I can just refill it with tap water on the go.

I like the idea of filling tank with pure water and purifying water on the job but wondered wether it was more cost effective resin wise to purify into tank? I don’t have the space at home to set up an RO so it needs to be 2 vessels. What size vessels do you use @Nudel? Is it 2 25ltr vessels? @Part Timer one of th vessels is bigger than the other, my guess would be that the biggest one is like 50ltr, so you can see why I want to move away from hauling this out to my outdoor tap which is facing the main public street.

Just put them in the van, between either tank and pump, or pump and reel. Resin seems to last a bit longer with a lower flow through them. Then fill tank with tap water and your off. Plus if you run low it'll take less time to refill tank, and if you have a good custy that'll let you refill your laughing.

All of this very much depends on how big is the tank and how much water you use, or will use when you switch more work over. I have a 650l van system, R/O, booster pump etc fitted, so haven't got enough experience with DI only. They do however look a tad on the large size, personally would think two 25l vessels would be plenty sufficient. Personally would purify water into tank then if anything goes wrong at least you have pure to start with.

I use a single 11l vessel. But I run 0 tds RO water through it 95% of the time and the tds here is sub 100 everywhere, so it lasts a long time.

A RO will probably take up less space than those two monster vessels you have. ?
