If your hands and fingers go that cold way where in your head you'd happily have them chopped off to make it stop, then just start hitting them of a wall, the numbness takes away the cold then carry on.

Whatever happened to "the stiff upper lip" attitude that we are meant to be known for,

This thread has made me realise just how phucked we are If russia decides to try and invade us, us in scotland would have to chase them out all by ourselfs and come to your rescue as you've turned into wee girls.
Ha ha Russia invade us! They couldn`t invade a biscuit tin.

Bought these from screwfix, only about 4, nice and warm good grip and dexterity, thermal and fully waterproof.View attachment 31006
I bought some of those a few weeks ago - well I tried, they actually gave me an alternative brand. The SWG227 are decent, not mega insulated but the lining seems bonded to the waterproof outer which stops it getting pulled out. The replacement ones are a little bigger fit wise but that just make them easier to get on and off. After using the new ones for a couple of weeks they seem to have become a bit slippy grip wise. I will give them a wash and see if that restores the grip. I do like them for cooler temps and wet conditions - like gsf cleans, for the money they are good.

Weird isn’t it, loads of folk like skytec argon and similar but I find with those my hands are frozen in 10 minutes! Must be middle age as I used to be able to handle the cold in my younger military days 😂
I’m hopeful the Rab gloves will last a while going on the reviews, I’m not ice climbing or going up mountains with them and I’ve always got a rag in my hand reeling in hoses so they’re not getting hammered.
Thanks for the recommendation on the Showa 282 - getting some for the rougher work

I find that my fingers get very cold, no matter what gloves I wear, for the first couple of jobs then they seem to warm up once the blood is flowing.
