Turned the vac on other day and nothing.
Took it apart tonight and if I spin the rotors on the motor it sparks and jumps into life and cuts out.

Presume it's a new motor job ?

You might be able to replace the brushes if the Commutator (copper strips) are all good. If you can't get genuine ones you can measure and maybe try ebay.

Tried to upload a video but it won't have it.

Sparking is usually brushes. They are spring loaded and are used to transfer the electricity to each of the segments in turn.

A: Commutator segments
B: Carbon Brushes
E: brush holders/electrical connection.

If you can see the copper commutator segments are all pitted and black then they might be too worn, they need to be flat and smooth.

If you can get the brushes out you can measure them and should be able to find replacements. Just check if the cable end need to be soldered or some other form of connection that you can sort.

REMEMBER unplug the mains before touching anything. If in any doubt regarding how to work with mains powered equipment don't guess. 240v bites and can kill!!!
