Going hoseless deary

WCF

Help Support WCF:

I have 8mm hose and enough 5 mm pole hose to fully extend my slx 22, if I went tubeless, would 8mm to 5 mm via existing slik connector , and then 5mm to 5mm via a rectus connector , then on to univalve work??

I totally forgot @Green Pro Clean Ltd  used the main hose, I still use 15 meters of pole hose on my set up as I prefer to nip the hose to stop water flow if needed.
how do u connect your pole hose to your reel hose please, and does that miniscule step ever get caught, not like protector balls I would  have thought.

Going hoseless is real simple with John guest fittings both my 6mm and 8mm reels are fitted super quick dont get as many snags as proctaballs no unwanted disconnections like the Rectus fittings last ages and cost next to nothing.

The blue and black John guest are much cheaper they work good but the blue bits are slightly bigger I find the other black connector from Gardiner pole system is much better easier to disconnect and goes in and out the end cap better.

You don't need the o ring on the side with the green pu hose mate

Grips so tight if pulled and never leaks without them

1 less thing to get caught on slabs etc

The polymorph almost eliminates snags.

If you need to use the JG hosetails with these connectors they can sometimes be difficult to seperate due to the shoulder on the hosetail being almost the same diameter as the releasing ring on the connector. A little tip that works well for me is to shave off the shoulder on the hosetail till it is almost the same size OD as the hose. I use the black hosetails where I need to now but the red one in this picture shows what I mean. It's easy to do this with a dremmel without damaging the part that goes into the connector and makes them much easier to separate when you need to.

Yes I meant to adopt that last time but keep forgetting will do it when I need to change for new connectors ?

Dunno what others do but when I need to stop the water leaking out I fold the hose and stick a piece of 20mm tube or some such over it to keep it folded. For me this isn't much of an issue as I use a trolley and a short length of hose so when I'm finished I hand coil my hose.

how long does your reel hose leak, when u disconnect because it will wont it?
90% of the time I don’t disconnect when I do I pull theunivalve after switching off controller for a couple of seconds and then reel in get a dribble here and there but nothing to worry about.

On the trolley, from pickup to delivery the hose is minibore reinforced hose which I believe is 8mm ID. This works well as you get much fewer problems with airlocks. If I disconnect my hose at the trolley any airlock will clear in about two seconds with the flow controller set to high flow.

From the trolley to the brush i use Gardiner’s green Pu pole hose. The reason I use this is for it’s light weight. Even at the short lengths I use it is very noticeable in use and the 5.5mm ID is no problem for the pump at these short lengths.

I primarily work with just a 17mtr length which allows me the freedom I need for most of my work, but I also carry a 25mtr length for the few times I need it and a very short length for when I don’t need to run out a longer length.

For reference the longest pole I use is 25 ft.

How do you connect green hose to pump output please,Iam fairly new to WFP,but many years trad,

There are various ways. I use the following parts:

https://gardinerpolesystems.co.uk/all-products/pump-hose/hose-fittings-adapters/garden-hose-couplings/aquastop-female-end-stop-fitting-for-microbore-minibore-hose.html

https://gardinerpolesystems.co.uk/all-products/pump-hose/hose-fittings-adapters/garden-hose-couplings/nylon-male-pole-hose-connectors.html

I also keep spares on board as it can be real annoying when parts break.

Also as a tip, if you are using PU hose you will need to get it nice and hot in order to push it onto the barb.

Failing that you could use one of these:

https://gardinerpolesystems.co.uk/all-products/pump-hose/hose-fittings-adapters/garden-hose-couplings/quick-release-anti-snag-pole-hose-plug-to-8mm-6mm-barb.html

or

There was a John Guest pushfit version but I cant find a link to it anywhere so maybe it's been discontinued.

Here's how mine is set up. The JG connector is there so I can break the tube when I want to bleed the air out as the claber is a waterstop connector
