Hi all,

I normally clean my gutters using a karcher vac. So far, I have managed to do them myself using several 450mm extension poles attached together. Surprisingly, it has good suction power and manages to get rid of the dirt on the upstairs gutters. The issue I have is because I have so many small poles attached together, they do start to bend. Therefore, I am looking at buying some proper gutter cleaning poles. I am leaning towards 51mm carbon fibre push fit poles mainly due to their light weight.

At the moment, I will still use these poles with my karcher. I may buy a proper gutter vacuum later on. But at the moment, I do not really have the storage space to store one anywhere.

What I would really appreciate is some tips on what to buy? Ideally, if this is permissible, a recommendation of a shop or brand to look out for.

I will probably use them about two or three times per year on my house. Once at the start of spring, once at the start of autumn, and perhaps once half way during the summer depending on how bad they got. Would the maintenance of these poles just be washing them after use and spraying them with silicone spray?

Thanks,
Questy

Have a look at GVS (Gutter Vacuum Systems). Don't discount the ali poles as they are quite light and stiff - not as light as carbon but if you are not doing that much work with them they will be fine.
Carbon are good when you are doing lots of jobs as they are less tyring but they are a little fragile - step on one and it might break!
Maintenance wise easy with ali - when you have finished get a bucket of clean water and suck that through the poles to the vac. They will be clean after that! WD40 the ends if you want. Cleaning carbon is same but don't use wd40 - use a silicone spray.

Hello mate. If only used on your own house I would just buy the cheapest ones to be honest. I have the push fit carbon poles which are fine, but then bought some basic carbon clamped poles which are a better. To clean them I rinse through with a hosepipe and then use some dry PTFE spray to give them a spruce up.

Push fit poles can stick but the best and cheapest of this type are a firm called carbon fibre tubes , they are really rigid and we had a set for 12 years then sold them and they are now 17 years old and still most of them are ok

I've seen on the forums people have used aluminium flag poles from Amazon/Ali express to some effect.

If it's only 3 times a year on your own house might be worth a look at the diameters for the price are good bet.
