Headstone cleaning

WCF

Help Support WCF:

Side note.  Some time back I spoke to specialist in this field and was informed that are two different associations you need to be a member of as well as having permission from the church itself.

Only time you can clean one without certain permissions is if you're a direct relative.

I have been on this site for 10 months and I never knew of such a service. Will need to talk to the priest at the church I am doing to see what he thinks. I would use my PW around 4pm when its quiet.

Pressure washer may damage the headstone, especially older ones. I've done a couple, softwashed them and they came up lovely

Done through family members asking, never through church

Just a side point if the headstone has lead letters on it be vary careful softwashing it as the mix will turn the lead brown and the runs from it can stain the stone .

Also if the headstone is made from slate the same thing can happen with mineral deposits in the slate , it can be fixed but it’s time consuming and can be costly

Yes a lot more consideration with this kind of cleaning. Make a bad mistake and the customer might not forget about it!

There are specialist companies for this. The guy who trained me's mum does grave tending. Like window cleaning its a regular service. Lots of people can't tend to a grave themselves. They normally offer it with a little grass cutting and general tending. I was once told that no chemicals should be used on a gravestone, just water. A lot of them would be sandstone type too which creates issues in itself.
