no it has 2 size D battery's. still need to find a way of wiring it up to the main system battery.

cheers still needs a little tidying up though

yes just like a boiler at home, turn the flow on boiler kicks in and heats water, turn flow off boiler turns off

the hot water unit come with its own battery housing for them to go

nether it has its own battery compartment on the bottom of the heater
