How Long Does It Take To Clean Windows ?

WCF

Help Support WCF:

I price by windows and how long I think it will take....tonight I have a quote for a bigger house with a 25ft conny, should be interesting. Where I live its like a big retirement home, everyone comes here to retire, I only do between 10-12 miles a day, as my town is very small. and only work 5-6 hours a day. Yes I am wfp...

hi guys im new to this site ,so be nice lol.

i used to do window cleaning a few years back ,i did it for seven years .after i did window cleaning i ended up in a dead end job making money for some1 else.thats when i decided to go back to window cleaning.best thing i ever did ,the only thing is i feel like i take ages cleaning 1 house . lets say this 1 house has 4 bay windows at front and 1 small window on the door and the same for the back.

so thats 8 windows and 2 small windows,it takes me about 35 mins .

also iv been told im quite cheap, for this "1house" id charge £9.20.

what is every1s thoughts ,do i need to speed my work up or is that good for a window cleaner, plus is this prices concidered the going rate so to speak?

{£1 per bay window and 60p per small window}

i
Is it just the 1 job? If it’s more, be more selective with your customers, just as much as you should be with the properties you clean. Your pricing might be out, (that’s for you to know!) but it sound like you are taking to long to clean. Work on cleaning method and pricing, and if the customer doesn’t like the increase in price, find one that appreciates your service.

iv got a few houses now ,but this house is on its own in a street i really want. iv posted some flyers hence thats how i got this house ,as i was posting the flyers i noticed many of the houses ad dirty windows so came to the conclusion no window cleaner.

did it cheaper {silly mistake i know } just to get one house on the street and be seen by neighbuors.

Have you tried knocking some doors or is it just flyers you use to advertise? Although I've not started knocking doors yet, I can see how much better it would be. You get either a YES or NO answer there and then. With the flyers, you're kept guessing if they might be wanting one or not. Hope you get some of the houses mate.

Funny that, I find windows that are kept clean are more likely to be interested in having a new quote for a regular window cleaning service.

Make sure you do a really good job for the customer you have in that street, and point out the clean windows/frames to the neighbors – make sure they look at there own (dirty) windows & frames. As you gain more in the street continue the process – if it works.

Richard

thats what i did on the first clean made sure all frames were cleaned properly took that extra 10-15 mins .but should be worth it if the customers start rolling in .lol

Spot on! Most don't clean the frames, ledges here. Its a really good selling point for me and continualy picks me up work. After you have got them clean the first time you jujst need to give them a quick wipe after it, some times you can get away with leaving them a few times depending on weather and how close to roads they are

I agree –M- maintain those (frames) at your discretion, but always make sure the glass is spotless.

i have found some doors tend to let water in if old fitting. usually i just wipe most with a damp microfibre quick & simple
I use to offer garage door cleaning in price to get customers. I Now charge an extra £2/£3 as an add on .most go with that
Most windies will be making around £40 / £60 ph. Sometimes more depending on prices and area.
a £10 /£15 bed house will take around 10/15 minutes dont rush to think you have to do it in that time frame.
As long as you can make enough to earn to keep you debt free and have savings be happy with what you have earned, Between 3 / 5 day week should be sufficient.
Unless like me you still take on new customers in certain areas just so any Competitor dosent get them Then you may be working sometimes 6 days .
All Fun.
If you love your work you are not actually working HaHa

I find this a strange attitude to have....so you take on more customers and work more hours than you want to work because you don't want another cleaner to clean them?

I couldn't care less what other window cleaners do I'm only interested in my own business and working the hours that suit my lifestyle

Imo the only time we would worry about a customer looking elsewhere would be if we weren't doing a good job.

We do our level best to treat our customers with respect and dignity: the same way we want them to treat us.

We also respect their property, being very careful not to damage ornaments or flower gardens with our hoses.

If after all that they still want to look elsewhere, then that's up to them. I'm not going to try to stop them. I will still talk to them if I see them in the future.

Personally, I also know my working life as a window cleaner is getting shorter with each day due to age and health, so I also have to look at the situation from their point of view.

my meaning is Most on the New Estates i clean already have a window cleaner. When the 4Sale signs go up i target the New Home owner. These are the only new customers i take on. I dont bother with Residents who have or have had a windie . I only take on new home owners .
These are few and inbetween so not a great ammount.
Plenty of customers for Canvassing Window Cleaners . i go out of my way to chat to them. Sometimes pass the odd one on if im too busy. You only get to odd one who are arrogant and not very outgoing. Too old in the tooth now.
