I need advice on my van tank.

Ok, here's the story guys.

Last week I got round to the point of knowing I needed a tank and hose reel in the van rather than having 9 (25l) barrels and a trolley.

I asked Mark B and he had sold his awesomely priced 350l tank so I decided to look elsewhere.

Purefreedom told me that, for a 350l tank with cage/fittings on it's own without being fitted by them, was £490+vat.

And that if I wanted them to fit it, it'd cost another 200-250 pounds.

So I thought, there has to be a cheaper way.

I looked around and found my tank:

Purchasing both these products would come to the total sum of £309.

Does this seem like a good fitting to get, has anyone else got one or seen one?

I'm going to hook my trolley up to it in the van for a short while while I sort out how and where best to fit everything else.

my tank is held in by 4 5ton ratchet straps, and hasn't moved in 18 months.

my tank is a lay flat 500l, only ever 1/2 to 3/4 full.

straps where £30 off ebay, with cirtificates.

My tank is a 350ltr tank and i just put a ratchet strap around it its really tight and does the job /emoticons/sad.png

You can get away without having a fitting if you have under 400ltr tank /emoticons/smile.png

The cleaning warehouse on eBay sell a nice frame for £165, if your local could maybe get discount for cash. Sorry ain't got a URL as its on the app. But that frame you posted would be good enough.

Would you not fit it yourself? Or ask a mechanic to? It's only 4 bolts or whatever.

Try look for 2nd hand tank.. There was absolutely none close to me so had to buy new and was around £160 and £25 postage!

My son in law bought this same frame and its rubbish TBH. When the frame is assembled and fitted on a forward mounted upright tank, it only restrains the tank in a side ways movement and not backwards and forwards. In the picture you can see there is no restraint on either the back or the front of the tank. This supplier assured us that friction will be enough for the tank not to slide. However, there is a warning label on the instructions that this is not guaranteed to hold the tank in an accident (similar sentiments as it was 9 months ago when I saw it) as it was a securing device.

Our experience with another 500 litre upright tank in a different vehicle with no side supports slid from side to side when full on a floor that was coated with protector coat when going around corners.

I personally think this is a better frame on ebay - 350505998638 - sorry I can't post a link as yet - but I would prefer a proper welded one TBH. They make frames for all size tanks.

There is another company who also advertises on Ebay from time to time but they haven't an advert at the moment and theirs looks better.

Price looks better hehe.

I'm having a mate fit it who worked for facelift, he's fitted a bunch and I know he'll do a good job, he's a great lad he's helped me out with work and website etc.

I owe him a lot, and am on the cusp of owing him more.hehe
