In-line Taps 1/2" Ball Valve

WCF

Help Support WCF:

Hi, they are only available for microbore at the moment. I've made a minibore variant but haven't got around to printing any off yet (except for a prototype I gave to someone I can't remember who). I've sold a fair few but there hasn't been great demand for them as I've had to price it a bit above what many want to pay for a tap so haven't put as much time into getting a minibore version stocked up. Can't really do much with the price though as they take around 9hrs each to manufacture + the cost of tap plus JG fitting + bulky postage. So I don't think they'll ever be flying off the shelves unless I look into getting them made in bulk with a cheaper method.
Good info there Skx. Looks like I'll be buying them in for £9 a pop unless I decide to go univalve.

How are people connecting minibore to pole hose when using a univalve?

Hi @Skxawng, can you let us know when you have some more of those thin rectus protectors back in stock please ?

I used to use rectus 21 fittings with a ball valve tap but it was a full disconnect kit so I could disconnect the tap at both ends. Once I switched to Univalve I just removed the tap and had the main hose connected to the pole hose with a rectus 21 coupler.

Otherwise you can just use an 8mm to 5 or 6mm hose tail adapter and some o clips. Wrap plenty of electrical tape around to make it a more streamlined shape to stop the o clip ears catching on things.

Many thanks for the O ring you sent me

I do prefer round poles. Far better grip. Found the ova8 a nightmare when wet as they slip in your hands and creek alot even when the clamps are new.
I haven’t owned one but did try a friends only did  a couple of houses with it wasn’t keen it seemed very heavy and not  well balanced compared to our  existing poles .

Are you sure that's the pole and not you. My brand new Xtreme makes some funny noise first thing in the morning as well.
My grip with my left hand isn't great as a result of a nasty accident where my hand was crushed and thumb ripped off.

When it was reassembled my thumb with the ligaments and plates a restricted my thumbs ability to close properly

I much prefer a round pole as I can close my hand around it better.

Ova8 clamps have to be perfect as they can slap around if not correctly adjusted

Nice one iron. I've actually got one of those taps in my tool kit. Never been used. How are you reducing your reel hose down to fit in the tap? I guess you're using a JG barb, but where are you buying them from? With a link too please.

EDIT: I'm using minibore hose
Not sure if I'm using microbore or minibore ? my hose has 6mm id and 12mm od

Edit, I was a tester for this so @Skxawng may have made one to suit for me..

That's microbore. I still don't really have any clear idea of how many use 6mm microbore vs 8mm minibore. I think Microbore is more popular but don't know how much by.
I think probably most people use now 6mm. When I first came across this forum there was a fairly big debate as to which was better 6mm or 8mm. Some were concerned that the 6mm would put too much pressure on the pumps. I've always used 6mm and am very happy with it.

I've always used 6mm. I still know people using garden hose with male clunk click hozelock fittings on their poles
