Hi guys,

New to wfp and have just bought the univalve.  Apart from the univalve itself, what else do i need to fit it?  Are those o clips and o clip tool i see on WCW absolutely necessary?  I want to get it on the same order with some trad stuff i need so i can save the postage!

Thanks in advcance.....

I don’t use o clips when using PU hose with the Univalve as I find the hose grips well enough without them.  But if you are getting into wfp you will find you are likely to need them sooner or later to make a good connection somewhere in your setup.

Thanks Mark.  I only have the yellow hose not sure what pu hose is but I'll get the O clips.  What about the tool?

Yeah, you’ll need the tool to install the o clips.  Is your yellow hose reinforced hose or the plain pvc pole hose?  The reason I ask is that the diameter will be different so you’ll need to get the right size o clips.  PU (polyurethane) hose is tougher than pvc hose and seems to grip tighter the harder you pull on it whereas pvc is softer and will definitely need clamping with the clips.  Also be sure to fit the Univalve the right way up otherwise it won’t work.  The moving part should face the bottom of the pole

I have no o rings on my hose setup whatsoever

I use a tap as i crushed my univalve with my big clumsy feet

I have the 6mm barbs to connect to tap and gardiner all season pole hose with no o rings and pu hose with no o rings

Not a single leak

Me neither.  I use a PF trolley.  The only clamps I use are two small jubilee clamps to hold the hose to the pump. Other than that and the 10mm claber fitting on the trolley hose, everything else is just push fit. I also run tubeless with just a JG fitting at the base of the pole.  Nice and simple. Makes for easy maintenance

Get the tool it's only about £6 isn't it and well worth it....also order 2 or 3 of each size O ring.......I use the snap fittings for reel hose to pole hose and put an O ring where the pole hose exits the pole at the top so when you pull for the univalve to operate the hose doesn't move.

I use a diy trolley with aquatec pump which has pushfit female connections

The only clamps i have on the whole system are to hold the barbed pushfit males in the 12mm hose to connect to the pump..stainless hozelock type connectors on the other end of those 2 hoses

I use 8mm jg wherever i need to connect different hoses

I'm pretty sure it's plain pvc hose as I only use cold water.  Think they said reinforced was for hot water systems....if i remember correctly.

Thanks for the advice guys  :2_thumbs_up_-_animated:

You may find during warmer weather that your Univalve doesn’t function very well as pvc hose becomes more stretchy than PU hose.  But see how you get on.  If it does become a problem just change your hose.  Ex-ceed Innovations Blue hose was designed, I believe with the Univalve in mind and is even less flexible and as such many of us prefer it.  I use the green one that Gardiner’s sell and find it very good.
