Windows frames sills and doors. £60

Garage door, toss in as there anyhow.

2 hours for the gutters (based on seriously thorough up ladder proper service)

2 hours on the connly leisurley pace

1 hour on windows and doors.

Total £230.

If that's too much he can buy his own gear and spend his own time on it. /emoticons/smile.png

Agree it's a hard one mate. We work in some "poor/deprived" areas but still get good prices and do manage to hit targets. However some people don't want my service probably because of price.

They still get their windows cleaned but not by me. Probably someone who has other sources of income or just the usually "bucket Bob" type.

I know it's hard but got to stick to your guns otherwise you won't make the money which is possible to make.

Sort of going back to what I said, you get what you pay for.

A new Ford cost the same on a Newcastle forecourt as it does on a Surrey forecourt.
Can of Coke is the same in a Carlisle Tesco as it is in a Devon Tesco.

Disposable income is toss. All these £4 & £5 customers all have a couple of packs of **** on the counter and a case of Stella on the fridge. They can afford to pay you fair ratee.

I dont have customers that take me cause i'm cheap enough that they may as well. I have customers that want a service and will pay for quality.

A can of coke and a new Ford may well cost the same but not everything else does. A pint in cheaper in the north than it is in the south. So is the cinema etc.

The cost of living is cheaper in the north, wages are generally lower, rents are lower and there's higher rates of unemployment.

I'm not sure how disposable income can be described as "toss". It's how much money people have to live on.

I see your point about the **** and Stella but poor people often go without necessities in order to buy these 'luxuries'.

Anyway, that's just my view. Each to their own etc etc. And ultimately, none of it really matters because I work in Hertfordshire and don't have to get by charging four or five quid a house [emoji1360]

I agree with both its really difficult. Plus let's face it everywhere in the uk has wealthy/poor estates villages towns etc. Some areas more than others. We work on million £ estates then 5 miles away have over 300 jobs where prices range from 100k to 400k. Lol.

Cud spend 4-5 hours there and agree with @Green Pro Clean Ltd On price id come in at 200 Experience. Is with price and a lot of work there. But sure everyone prices different.

It actually only varies based on one factor..... mentality of the window cleaner.
'Oh I live up north so I cant charge what they get down south' well that's total toss.

2 years ago my average 'per house' price was £7.80, Today it's £15.20. More than double.

I did the same as everyone. Price low stack high thinking that's good business sense, I avoided posh houses thinking 'ooh they wont have me' and basically mentally undervalued myself in a big way.

Only issue was a lack of confidence in what I was selling which ultimatley was me. Also I was rather skint and priced on something being better than nothing.

Now the money is in the bank and business is booming and I only hit affluent areas when looking for more work, i dont even entertain council estates any more.

We have been looking at relocating back to south London and have asked friends there how much they pay their window cleaners and in 6 of 7 cases it was less than I would charge and also some jobs the southern lads have posted on here are well below my rates so just shows that the whole 'ohh down south pays more' mentality is nonsense / myth. (With the exception of London proper)

As always though, just my personal observations and opinions.

It does depend on area to an extent

Seeing as that woman got dropped yesterday i then had time on my hands so I did some work in a village not too far away yesterday instead and got over 300 notes for 1 conservatory and lean to job

I couldn't charge that in my own town as nobody would pay it

In my case it is a choice of charge a bit less in town and still make a good bit of bunce for the job or try to charge what i charge in the villages and get told to do one and not earn anything

I am not cheap anyway but just can't stick to the same prices everywhere i work

Customers who had the old bloke windy for years and years who charge pennies to do there windows that's why they say no to higher prices plus up north most people they want things cheap I refused a lot of jobs because either they was chatting bull about their last window cleaner charging £4 for a 2 bed semi lol I just laughed at her and said I wouldn't get out of bed for that price. Allot of people are tight They don't think window cleaning is the same as other professional services I believe

work took 3 hours, customer was very happy with my work, £100. nect time i will seperate jobs and price accordingly. i didnt see the side facias on the garage. 10 minutes.

had to remove swivel neck on brush, to static one.

i noticed drops of virosil can stain upvc framework if left to dry on.

Totally agree with green about how your can of coke costs the same anywhere etc. And i have tried over past few months looking at threads on what others charge but its impossible to get consistent costs. I am relatively new still to this game and have had times i know I could have charged more and times where I'm done in no time and smiling when I jump in the van.I've come To conclusion I know how much i wanna earn in a day now based only on my circumstances/ bills what i earnt in previous job etc and fact i work alone so dont need to slip anyone else a wage and as long as i hit that i dont care if im more or less than the next guy that quotes the same job. I've found that's the only way to quote for me and its the same for all my work

Work out what you want to earn per hour

Guess roughly how long a job will take

Do the sums and you have your price

It is irrelevant what someone else charges

Don't forget whatever you work out as a price add a little more as jobs rarely go as smoothly as you plan

When it comes to pricing work, I have started NOT pricing on site. I take an email address or mobile number and forward a price the next day. This gives me time to contemplate things that I may over look at the time. Also it can be easier when they are not looking at you with big pleading eyes, to ask for the amount you really want and you wont be swayed by the cups of tea and nice chat.

Yesterday I viewed a one off job. Inside and out. Whilst there I was thinking £200. This morning I have put in a price for £300 and have just got a text back accepting.

Today I viewed a large house again inside and out, Swimming pool etc. This will be monthly so I was thinking £120, but now I'm thinking £160. I'm still thinking about it but I know it will be more than the £120 I had in my head.
