Hi, after 25 years trad ( im 41) i did my 1st day wfp today. To start, i went in at the deep end, a 1off clean! It took me 90 mins as I did each window 3 times. Hose wouldn't follow me instead preferring to get stuck on everything it could, hose to reel connection leaked etc etc etc (£20 house, underpriced but I explained I was changing to wfp so she was a guinea pig house so it would be done at a discount) When I went back to check it later in the day I could still see spider or fly muck or whatever those 10mm x 5mm patches of muck are. I'm using a gardiners dual trim sill brush (seem to have left half the bristles stuck in vents etc) which came well recommended. A boars hair brush may be better for my changeover from trad cleans from what ive read on here, anyone know where i can get one? I then did an 80 window bungalow care home. I felt more confident with this as I did it every 5 weeks trad and do the frames well each time. I went over each window 3 times, up n down side to side up n down and was pleased with the way they were looking until I had finished the whole lot then went back to the start to have a look at the dry windows. I found a lot of spot runs a few inches wide right down the windows. They had come from vents above the windows which I had given a really good clean but obviously not as good as I'd thought. I think I'm going to find vents a problem as I've a lot of houses with them and can't really miss them as windows must look bad with mucky vent areas and the rest of the window clean. What do you guys do with vents?

All in all it was a fairly good start, not as good results as I would have liked but I can see how good it could or will be when I get into it. Worked 9 till 2 as that was all the wfp work I had to do today. I earned the same as I would of trad which I thought was very good considering it was my 1st go and I saw that it would definitely be a lot quicker than trad after a couple of cleans. Used 400l of water though which was a lot more than I thought I would. I was thinking my flow was fairly slow but obviously not. Good job I didn't have anymore work to do as I only have a 450l tank!

I'm a wfpoler...woohoo!! Now where's some scummy doley tradders to look down on! (o8

i found the change tough, sleepless ***hts (that takes some doing with me! ) but it gets better. with vents, if you clean them everytime you'll be ok, it's just that first one can be a mare, but what i've found, is when you clean around a vent try not to squirt water up it, can be done by turning off the flow, but i have jets slightly angling down.

it's funny, but you just get a feel for it, i know when i started seemed to spend forever on a window and rinsed like mad and still dried bad, can now do a 1st clean much faster, less water better result! no can figure!

thats all good advice mate & well done, my first sill brush was a gardiners dual trim & i thought it was excellent after vikan & brodex brushes but i've just got a gardiners flat trim stiff bristle one & i find it much better especially for 1st cleans

Good job buddy, it's hard when you first start it but you will soon get into it and it will become alot clearer and easier to use. First cleans are a pain (depending on how dirty the property is) but the second clean should leave it spotless! The Gardiners Dual Trim brush is amazing, I wouldn't swap it for the world.

James.
