Spent today and yesterday afternoon changing the van ply lining to something that won’t go manky when damp.

Thought I’d go the whole hog and move the pump controllers to the back so they’re next to the reels.

Spent three years having the reel at the back doors and the controllers near the side door before if dawned on me how much of a waste of time that is.

Decided to sink them into the “ply” so easy to access but less likely to take a whack.

Only a DIY job but I’m pretty chuffed with this result!

Nice work . What's the non manky panelling your using...need to sort mine!

It’s 5mm Polypropylene “bubble board”. Usually used in signage and display industries (I once worked in that game).

Using it because it’s chemical and water resistant and wipeable so won’t get poxy mould all over it when it’s damp. It’s also pretty rigid so can withstand knocks.

Might not be ideal if you’ve got heavy stuff screwed to ply but it will take drilling and hold small screws (like the fascia of that electrics panel in the post).

Now noticed that streamline sell something similar as pre-cut kits ply lining style.

Friendly piece of advice: don’t buy that, they’re daft expensive.

That whole MWB van cost me £40ish and took just over an hour including cutting and fitting

I’ve often considered this but it’s a difficult product to procure.

I’d recommend speaking to a local signwriters, most probably don’t carry it as stock but should be able to order it in if they’ve got decent suppliers. It’s sometimes referred to as “Akyboard” but that’s just a brand name.

Just make sure they don’t confuse it with Correx (the fluted, not honeycomb board used for estate agent boards etc) that won’t last 5 mins.

Two 8x4 sheets were more than enough for a 2020 dispatch that’s had crappy 5mm ply in it since I got it new. I’ve got a couple spare sheets as looking to add another van in the next month or so so will do the same thing.

Plus it’s completely recyclable so once it eventually starts to look a bit tatty can just slap another section in to replace it 👌
