I think its often because they see us doing it and think, “hmm, that looks easy, i could do that in the same time”

aye, they could, after you've learned how to purify water, spent the thousands in investment and been through the struggles of finding a client base and becoming a reputable trader ?

also, could they do it day in day out all year round xx number of houses a day whether your waters freezing, soaked through to your skin or on the verge of passing out in a 25 degree heatwave. I doubt half of them would go out in some of the weather conditions we deal with never mind finish a round. Our stamina and integrity count for more than we think ?
Well said.

Deffo. Most are oblivious to the work we put in and the money needed to be spent behind the scenes in order to provide a safe working environment and first class service. Most think back to old days when you could (still can really) set up and run a successful business for a few hundred quid. Had one the other day that was having a little grumble as it’s price rise time, further in the conversation he started to ask me about how much water I bring with me etc etc. I showed him and gave him a little run through my equipment including running costs, expenses etc. He couldn’t believe the extent of it all and even admitted he’d been a little nieve and that simple explanation put the price rises into perspective for him. Most understand and most can see for their selves the difference in our industry over the last 10-20 years and that everything’s improving and you pay for what you get but then there’s the odd few that are in their own little bubble oblivious to the lengths we go to “just to clean their windows”.

Scraping paint, tape and all sorts of others is a daily job for me for the last few decades. Clean blade, lots of soap to create that barrier, always scrape forward and not backward & you should be good to go on most panes of glass. Always test it first on an inconspicuous part of the glass preferably where the light doesn't catch. With big panes like that I would agree with Paul it's probably not annealed glass which you can scrape easy, so be careful. Get yourself some bronze wool for the glass you can't put a blade to. Maybe a solvent as last resort, spray on and leave for a bit.. should do the trick.

Most people I deal with are lovely & know that it's a slog but there are some that think you have a handy number. I always say, come out for a working week with me and that will clear things up. Some just don't care, you're a cleaner, I am paying you, do the job. Fair enough I suppose.

Most of them don't realise that work does not stop for you when you arrive home. The best ones are the ones who catch you on a sunny day and say "lovely number working out in the sun, you have a handy one". Yeah great but what about the previous 6 months of wind, cold and p*ssing rain that is conveniently forgotten. Not living in the Bahamas ffs
