Afternoon all. I was wondering if those of you with the swb Expert mean the compact version specifically? I’m eyeing a 2018 2.0 model.

On paper it looks as though I should be able to fit a 500L upright tank and Purefreedom stacking reels and still have space for a gutter vac as and when needed.

Would love to see some pics if anyone has some of their gear. Specifically looking through the rear doors and side doors.

Thanks for reading.

No mines definately the swb not the compact. I have a 500ltr upright in mine, a GVS panther gutter vac, A 3 stage ladder, hoze reel, backpac etc. There is still loads of room left so you should be fine

I have the SWB 1.6l. I have a 500l from Ionics. I’ll post a couple of photos. Doesn’t look this clean anymore 😄

I was just about to tag you. Those pictures must have been when it was installed. There’s no way you’ve kept it that clean all this time 😂

Edit… only read your post after I posted. Also, did ionics fit that hose connection for you? I want one!

I've got the 1.5 berlingo version, same engine as the Peugeot, I've got 500litre tank although usually only carry 300litre and the van pulls OK with that. I have however heard a few horror stories about these wee engines failing early due to a cam chain stretching issue which can if left unchecked cause total engine failure. 👍
Happened to mine mate. Get it upgraded to the thicker chain before 80k . You'll be a couple of grand down min ! And my van was off the road for weeks, because the part is hard to track down .

How did you get on viewing that van mate?
Took it out for a spin. Seems decent enough but the service history is a bit patchy with only 1 full service and 2 interims (it’s a 2018 plate). It’s done 85k and due a new clutch & timing chain in my opinion as there is no record of them being done. Looks like it was a fleet vehicle and serviced in-house.

More importantly I was able to map my gear out on the floor and looks like it’ll fit nicely in the compact version. I’m just in the processes of piecing together my haggle-spiel before I head over there and try to negotiate the price tomorrow.

150k on the timing belt on those mate.

IMO the best spiel is “you want x, I only have x what can you let it go for”. Let’s assume they’re after 7k, you tell them you only have £6200 what can they let it go for. They will try and get you up from £6200… you respond by telling them that’s every penny you have. They need to leave you some for diesel and tax so you were actually hoping for them to take less than £6200. You then make some phone calls and “borrow some money” from your parents to get it over the line. Tell them you’re coming all the way up to £6300 and you’ll sort the tax and petrol yourself… that’s my favourite negotiating tactic haha.

That’s interesting. I read 100k-150k so was erring on the side of caution due to the lack of history. And obviously want to use anything I can to get the price down. 😆 Will report back tomorrow.
