Started using my old pole for conservatory cleans etc but pole clamps won't stay fully shut, they rise again slightly when I shut them leaving pole section slightly loose.

Any ideas, I'm sure it will be something simple.

I imagine that you have a nut on the other side of that screw the lever pivots on @J and S.

Over time the pole wears. It wears in different places along the tube's length, some places more than others. When the tube wears it becomes a smaller diameter. I'm guessing that you have adjusted the clamp to grip on these areas where the pole is worn. But in doing so the clamp is now too small to clamp correctly on the places where the pole isn't worn.

This is why the Gardiner Smart clamps have a spring in them. It allows the clamp to tighten on a wider range of pole thicknesses.

If you release the adjustment on one of those levers so it closes fully in that position, you will probably get the clamp slipping on areas of the pole where its the worst worn further down the tube.

Cheers for that Spruce......the pole itself has not had that much use as I bought an SLX 5 months later when I realised how much lighter and better they were.

I had something similar happen on my gooseneck clamp (Gardiners). Difference was, it did lock, it's just that the lever stuck out.

I had to replace the lever as the cam on it had worn out.
