Where the pole hose comes out of the pole I have fitted a o clip to aid the operation of the univalve as you do......just a lately I find that after an hour or so the clip slides up the pole hose and I have to force it down again.....it's as tight as it needs to be, any tighter it would be constricting the hose...any ideas?...........It's a new univalve I have fitted and this never occurred with the old one and it's the same type of pole hose.

I don't know what pole hose or gooseneck you are using. I use the standard Gardiner gooseneck and PU hose. This is what works for me

They are about 18mm x 23mm and cut from 50mm diameter (or thereabouts) plumbing pipe and drilled to 7.5mm to be used on 8mm PU hose. A little tricky to fit but you get  the knack. Once on, mine seldom slip but if they do they are much easier to slide back into position. If they keep slipping, make another with a 7mm hole. I've been using this method for about three years. I also keep a couple around as spares in case they split. I've had about three split in as many years. I doubt they will work on PVC hose though as it's too soft.

Think the problem might be the new univalve....think it's not turning on and off as easily as my old one and am having to tug harder causing the clip to slide....never had the problem with my old univalve, might put that back on now I've serviced it.

I know the recommendation is to fit an 'O' ring at the top of the pole hose if you're using a univalve but I've never found a need to do it. The univalve seems to work fine without this modification.

I've now dumped all my black facelift hose as it was rubbish.

Gone with Gardiner green from reel to pole, then Gardiner red inside the pole.

It's night and day compared to the facelift, the univalve so much easier to operate because there's no stretch in the Gardiner hoses, so you aren't having to tug the hose two feet behind you to turn the water on and off.

To compare the two hoses I held a meter of each and tried to stretch them, the green and red hardly stretched and the black stretch about 15%, when your pulling on 30 feet of it that makes a big difference.

I've also noticed the pump is faster to dead end and restart as the Gardiner hose doesn't expand like the black one does. This means you don't get a burst of high pressure when you turn the water on followed by a dribble and then normal flow once the pump kicks in. It's now much more predictable and controlled.
