Ive read in the local paper today that neighbouring county essex may have hosepipe bans from spring 2020. I only mentioned yesterday about how dry it had been round here (despite recent rainfall)

Im fairly sure suffolks been almost as dry as essex so reckon we could expect the same. As a lot of waters used for agriculture round here, that doesnt help.

I guess that would affect use of wfp? I know we had hosepipe bans many years back, Im thinking this was before wfp. This could be a killer blow. Interesting to hear views on this. ?

I think we'll be ok in the first stages. If it gets really serious all bets are off. It's our livelihood and a health and safety issue if we're forced to use ladders all day to be able to pay our mortgages and bills. I don't have a problem with using ladders for gutter emptying but using them all day would add a whole nother level of risk and I'd be putting that in writing to the water company.

I'd also be asking them in writing, why, with all the near droughts were having almost every year, and with an ever increasing population and demand, they aren't digging the reservoirs deeper to increase the holding capacity, while the levels are low and the opportunity is there.

Watch this space. They will be demanding government (our) funding to sort it out before too many years, having declared a supply emergency. And guess what? They'll get it.

Don't get me started!

Oops! Too late, I have. Apologies. ?

Yeh ridiculous. Look at the amount of serious flooding they get in some areas. I even heard that in some areas in the states they arent allowed to collect their own rainwater that falls on their own property!!!

To be honest guys I wouldn't worry about what you cant change. The summer of 2018 which was the hottest and most dry in 50 years plus passed with loads of panic on the forums but in the end no bans that I know of. As others have said even if a ban is in effect it would according to my local water boards website be a stage 2 or 3 ban before it effected us windies. Which I would imagine is unlikely. So many factors that could effect us but I think theres a lot more likely ones than this

Yeh I spose. Im not too fussed. What will be will be, but I dont put nothing passed these govts. I believe they're gonna start using these climate change tactics for ever more daft ways of turning the cosh and extracting more out of us and giving less back.

stop worrying.....the hosepipe ban doesnt affect businesses......and i dont care really about you southerners as i live in the north west....?

when it rains here its biblical.....?

Now theres an idea, a big pipeline to poach northerners water, gotta be better than our 530 tds stuff too ?

Already exists.. it's just the water companies don't admit to moving water about to other companies because then there would be an outcry from the locals who've had it pumped away.

But it does happen, there is a national water network - saw a TV programme about it around 8 years ago.

Using the press to guilt trip the public in to using less water, all the while millions of gallons are lost due to leaks in the network. All while the water rates will rise year on year. Ours went up £10 a month this year.

More and more houses are built putting more and more strain on the water supply without the grid increasing in size (extra reservoirs etc). With the rain weve had this week cor blimey there would be enough for a decade had we the reservoirs to store it.
The government bangs on about climate change and achieving net zero and so on and so on just to keep people at bay, making us think they are doing something to help the world. what theyre really doing is encouraging population expansion. New houses, hs2 railways, airport expansions and so on and so on. Because a bigger population means more people paying in to the tax system. The general public are half as mad sometimes. That extinction rebellion lot parked a big huge boat outside cardiff castle for a week. My mate sent me a photo of the diesel guzzling flat bed lorry it was brought there on, with the boat on top, being fuelled up at the local tesco station ? and they think theyre making a positive difference ?

Oh i know...lets glue myself to a train.? Glue, in any form, cant be good for the environment surely. And then what chemicals are the train companies going to use to remove it from their carriages? Meanwhile they’ve thrown away a glue covered set of clothes and one more plastic bottle full of glue has been needlessly wasted. Dunno where these people get the time i mean do they not have to work for a living?
There will probably be increased taxes on flight at some point, of course people will still fly as the tax will probably not be enough to put people off a holiday, but just enough to squeeze a few extra notes out of the average joe, so they make yet more money all the while the same amount of emissions are being spewed out in to the atmosphere. Thats my guess anyway. They’ve got this capitalism thing locked down as they’ve been at it too long. People are generally none the wiser and continue to believe in and vote for whatever lot they think will bring the country to its salvation. Its all gotta come crashing down catastrophically at some point surely. The cracks are showing. High streets are in decline, thomas cook through the hoop, marks and sparks out of the ftse 100. Big businesses shrinking/folding/moving jobs abroad. Goverment an embarrassing shambles & as fractured as it could ever be. Bumper to bumper traffic and package delivery vans only adding to the chaos as everybody's ordering online. Things are changing...quickly. Not for the better i fear. Not a pessimist like ? but just what my eyes are seeing.

I use about twenty litres of water on a typical days work, sometimes more when there's two of us. Also working in Cornwall we have plenty of rainfall so not much to worry about down here currently, but looking at the bigger picture it's not good. The world now has around a twenty five percent water shortage and it isn't going to get better. Businesses that use huge amounts of water will eventually have to re ***** this issue worldwide!

The world is an ever changing place, and will be more so over the next few years to address all the problems we are facing as a human race.......food for thought! ??

All sadly very true. What I cant stand is when these hoodwinkers roll out people like david attenborough to further panic and fool the masses. Showing wallruses falling off cliffs and saying its because of ice melt. Total utter lies. The actual people whop study them have said its rubbish. They always form mass groupings and have accidents, and its cyclical, they have boom years and less other years. same with the ice, it expands and retreats every so many years. I put nothing past these people. In the future you'll have a fake alien attack and therefore we'll all have to make do with less to fight off this terrible onslaught. They've been doing them already with holograms. I better shut up as i'll be drifting onto how they want to do away with cash/religion/gender etc. Better get to pub lads ?

The last few summers in the south east have been glorious.

Because of this I’m regularly spraying deodorants into the sky. Won’t effect my time on earth. No need to thank me ???
