Powerwashing sills and frames (newbie)???

WCF

Help Support WCF:

worked for me...whole conservatory including roof, finials & crest and sides done in 10 mins

I had to pressure wash a memorial in a cathedral burial ground, very important local tomb and all that. I brushed it with caustic and turned the washer up high........disaster!!! Soft stone.....had to try and blend all the gouges out with an angle grinder.

There are special systems & methods that you could have used that would not damage the substrate instead of blasting the ***** out of it./emoticons/biggrin.png

Did it not occur to you that you where dealing with a heritage monument?

Fortunately the tomb had so much lichen on that I could disguise a few 'new' marks. Had some big disasters on the memorials. Digging up bones, put a pick axe through a skull once! One near accident (frank was there) nearly killed someone. That's when I called it a day.

I've spent literally days with a dremel and a carborundum going round a memorial before...... but always try caustic or granclean and pressure washer first!

Are you a stonemason?

Yeh we used to try all that stuff. If the stone is porous it'll never work. Better off machining it out. Fullers Earth will sometimes draw oil out. Best try to bleeeeeend it in somehow.

We had a chap try and sell us a big steam cleaner machine, for removing chewing gum stains, waste of time. It was okay on lighter marble but that was it.
