Buying new van in 2 weeks time, transit size or similar with 1 ton payload, could do with recommendations. Only downside is a 2k budget and no chance of finance ?

Also after ideas and recommendations for the cheapest way to do a 500l 2 man setup.

Bagged a big 5 year contract with a housing association and what I'm using now will not hack it.

Wish I had more funds to throw at it but finances will not allow it.

Any suggestions would be great, thanks in advance all ?

I’d get a bigger tank.

650 litre at least.

Two pump boxes is possibly the cheapest way to run two guys.

500 ltr of water isn’t going to go far with two people working from it all day , if you are doing stop start then you might just about do it but if in one place that won’t last a morning , we regularly use 1200-1500 ltr on commercial work in a day for two guys , why not get a bigger tank , and only fill it when needed ,if doing gutter vac work don’t fill it up , one pump per pole works best , I always find if splitting the one supply into two hoses/poles that it favours the lower pole with more water , if you can afford it get an extra pump and controller it will  work better hopefully if you have got a 5 year contract you will be able to expand your kit gradually , hope it works out ok for you

Be 3 hours on the contracts most days, plus couple hours residential, primarily one man using it, second man occasional use. Will be 2 pumps and controllers. As for running out of water, as part of the contract we have a way of refilling if more than 5 miles from home, less then that it'll be refill during lunch.

Unfortunately you aren't going to get a decent Transit T280 for £2000. The ones I've quickly looked at on EBay are very high milers with issues. I will also be on the verge of failing MOT due to rot with expensive welding repairs to follow.

Anything half decent is 2 and a half to 3 times that price.

Something like this might be worth a look

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2007-CITROEN-RELAY-30-L1H1-100-SWB-PV-MOT-10-03-2020-NO-VAT-ANY-PX-WELCOME/333218157594?hash=item4d9559941a:g:8gEAAOSwJHhc1RTs

At least the body is galvanised so any issues will be mechanical.

Its had a checkered MOT history and there is a small oil leak, but it has a years MOT.

Just fill the fuel tank once a week if you do little mileage to keep it full. Sometimes, the fuel gauge can pack up but the low fuel warning light still works, so that might also be a temporary solution.

Here's another option,

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fiat-Ducato-mwb-2-3-td-2006-56-reg-new-shape-recent-mot/143274844849?_trkparms=aid%3D888008%26algo%3DDISC.CARDS%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20131227121020%26meid%3D398c1634ac604bd3a20a410e81bd566c%26pid%3D100009%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D2%26sd%3D133068674772%26itm%3D143274844849&_trksid=p2047675.c100009.m1982

It also has a galvanised body and this one has the Iveco 2.3 l diesel engine.

I would stay away from anything Fiat Ducato, Citroen Relay or Peugeot Boxer between 2004 and 2006 and the previous model before that - 1994 - 2003. The bodies aren't galvanised and they will be totally rotten now and not worth repairing (same as Transits.) I've got a failed 04 plate with 73k on the clock in that situation - the body is just crumbling away in strategic areas.

If you don't mind taking the risk your may be able to get something at the van auctions in Merthyr:

https://www.auctioneers.co.uk/
I've been looking on there a lot, only an hour up the road. Wherever I get it from I'm taking a mate whose a mechanic and will be going over it as thoroughly as he can. Seen a one but too far away, vivaro for 1800 in Barnstaple, only couple small advisories. And a bloke In cardiff was selling 2 vans with van mounts for 4k one vivaro and a berlingo, but won't reply to my messages.

Yea and not gonna happen, joys of insolvency 6 years ago
I went bankrupt on 12th April 2012 and got accepted for a lease van on 18th of April 2018. If you've behaved yourself in those 6 years you would be surprised what you can get. I signed up for clear score and kept a tight eye on my credit rating, the moment the insolvency came off my score increased by one third mate.

The only thing I did to increase it was sign up for credit cards and pay them off regularly. Use them one month and pay them before they charged interest. That way at the end of the 6 years I could also prove I could manage credit accounts. Not sure how much that helped.

I have car finance for my car, they won't give me finance on the van as because of the insolvency I can't have 2 vehicles on finance
