Prevention is better than a cure but what goods a heater on all night when the the coldest part of the night is only just after sunrise. Many times I’ve checked the van when I get up around 5/6 o’clock to find everything ok then by the time I get to work it’s all started to freeze. Honestly a good blower heater on for a while just before you set out not only defrosts anything that may have froze overnight but also puts enough heat in the back of the van to ensure that nothing freezes on your way to work or at least until you can get the water moving. Don’t waste your time  and money on a oil heater and get some good lagging and insulation as well as getting rid of any metal components.

Also, as long as the pumps been run with the tank water tap turned off, it should get rid of most water in the system

No mate, Ive had everything completely freeze up when it was really bad a good while back(the big freeze of 2012, I think)

and nothing broke or cracked. Water doesn’t expand that much and you can also keep all your valves and taps open so there is even more expansion room?
if it works for you, you keep on doing what your doing

ive just bought a 180w tube heater (4ft)...waiting for amazon to deliver it..im going to fit it along the side of the tank which is just under all the pump and reel too, hopefully this should be great at keeping the frost at bay and being a slim tube im hoping i dont notice it as it will be tucked away nicely, ill keep you informed on performance
Unfortunate I don’t have a driveway next to my house, and my lockup is at the top of the road 150meters away, think I’m snookered,

This may or may not help but it might be worth a try.....

My dad used to work nights quite often at a brewery... Good place ?.. Anyway I remember he used to fill a 25ltr drum with really warm water and place it in the car when he got to work in winter, he used to come out and the car wasn't frozen over... May work ?
