Yes Kevin. I bought it to replace my 500 upright so I could fit the immersion element lower but it's looks like I'm going to have a cage made so it not worth the hassle

Is the plastic outlet screwed into a brass fitting fitted to the tank. I've got a 350 have to sometimes take 25 litre containers and top up. A right pain in the ass. so a 500 is ideal, is cash good

The plastic elbow can be removed, cash is king !

Don't be. The element heats the water but in an upright tank I could only fit the element 2\3 of the way down the tank, hence I got the flat. But, it is easier to fit a pump to mix the water in the upright than get a cage made for the flat. If you buy it I will show you my set up
