Stretches/Warm up - Before days Window Cleaning

WCF

Help Support WCF:

I’m still youngish and fit-ish, but if I’ve got a busy couple weeks in a row & regularly cleaning stuff using my 27ft pole, then I start to feel my shoulder a little by the end. And I’ve never had any shoulder pain before starting this job 4 yrs ago, before this job I was a roofer for 8yrs.

Its widely known that this is one of the worst jobs for RSI. We are basically lifting our arms up & own all day everyday with a small weight in our hands. Over the course of 5,10,20 years it will affect most people.

We we all have different bodies, work styles, equipment & work patterns. So some will need to exercise & watch their routine as they get older, some won’t.

I dont do any. I exercise in general but not for work. But as I get older I’ll probably have to start having to address a dodgy shoulder.

building the muscles up around the shoulders, back, arms will help massively with repetitive WFP work.....it has for me anyway.......

if you ve got a dodgy shoulder id go and see a specialist mate if its not going away on its own.......

We’ve discussed the physical approach, now what about the mental approach to a day on the windows?
This is where newbies and most people fail, you really need to have a mind set of what needs to be done and then do it. If you're new at the job and have 100 houses to do don't do them over the full month. If you can, do them in the first week and use the other time to generate more work. My son always had the mindset of no rush I can always do it tomorrow, but tomorrow might be lashing it down and before you know you get behind. Far better to do it asap and have an easy end to the month. As for the physical approach then I'm a bit like @Pjj I just crack on, no exercises etc. If you do start to get aching elbows / shoulders etc then a proper icepack and anti inflammatory drugs regime, including rest days, should resolve it, as long as you start this as soon as you start to feel it.

Strong self motivation is what you need to run a successful window cleaning business IMO.........oh and short days(5 or 6 hours a day then home time)[emoji3]......

If your an organised person who likes routine then you'll thrive in this job.....[emoji41]

This is a sore (pun intended) subject with me.

I have a little stretch before I start work, but this morning, as I’m not working, got out of bed and being the kind, affectionate, sexy, handsome husband that I am, I thought I’d treat the wife to a cuppa in bed.

Came downstairs, reached up for the cupboard handle and pulled something in the bottom of my back ??.

Currently sat in a hot bath to help it as nothing will stop me going out and moonstomping in my local tonight ?

Happy new year to everyone!!!!

(except West Ham supporters) ?‍?

gyms are gonna be busy this month....for most people its a waste of time

1.they lack self discipline

2.they hate the gym(whats the point in going then!)?

most wont last until the end of the month..........

happy new year to you all...?

Worst part is the regular gym nuts go mad that noobs are using 'their' gym.

They need to remember, we didn't complain when they used our pubs and restaurants in December ??
That’s why New Year’s Eve is so overrated. People who go out about 4 times a year suddenly nick all the space at the bar that is locals use all year round.

Not you @P4dstar as your busy nerding it on a console, looking after your stampede of kids or posting your 100th post per day on here ???.

?? not long now ???

Yeah but one day I'll be able to go to the pub and footie like you do, in the meantime you'll be sat posting your 100th post of the day from the nursing home ?

Sunday before Bank Holiday Monday, all of them, up here are manic. Probably the same crowd that bugger up New Years Eve

The 22ft would do 95% of my work
The 25 ft would be a better option and it only weighs the same as an 18 ft SLX pole more importantly it is extra still with substantially reduced flex and this is what prevents the return energy and stress to the muscles of shoulders ect.

If you're planning on staying on the tools yourself and you value your health by one
