Teesside Window cleaning - inquest into the death of one of his employees.

I said that to someone in the for sale section recently. He got very defensive. I'm starting to see a pattern where I'm making people defensive 🥴
I've seen the same pattern. When I see the back doors of a van open with a loose fitting tank, I speak to the window cleaners. Most won't even listen, and get defensive. I've been told to mind my own business.

See the same van a few years later and nothing has changed.

That’s sad mate. This sort of advice comes from a place of genuine concern. I do have much respect for someone willing to be honest enough to say they’re willing to take the risk on things like this because they don’t want to spend the money. I much prefer to know where you stand with someone.

It's that old saying; "you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink."

Once you have pointed out an issue and it's ignored, then the onus is on the person you have spoken to.

Huran's ex employees all know why Andrew died. So far, I've come across 2 of them who have repeated Huran's Transit van set-ups with improperly secured tanks. It's now up to them. This accident happened 12 miles away, so it not in another part of the world, it's on our doorstep.

It would be very sad if a repeat of Andrew's death happened. I would really hope that some will come to their senses and re-evaluate the value of their life.

I’m dead against Government regulations. I think we need far less government in our lives. But when common sense is so scarce what other option is there?!?!

When I started out with my DIY system I had a tank, a metal frame that was bolted through the floor and secured with spreader plates. Then the tank had 2 ratchets, both rated to 2.5tonne over the top. Then through the centre I had a further 2 ratchets each rated to 250kg. The tank was a 500 litre.
With all of this I’m sure it was safe. I still changed it for a crash tested system at the first available opportunity.
