Hi

Just set up my 100gpd system.TDS reading prior to adding DI housing was 11 and 4 once DI housing was in place. Is 4 suitable to use for WFP or should I aim to get to 0 ?

If 0 is the answer any tips on how I might achieve this please

DI should bring it down to 000ppm. Tell us more about your resin and DI.

I bought the whole system from a company called extend2wash based in Selby. The DI cartridge was supplied by them.

What size is the vessel, is there enough resin in it, what make of resin is in it, is the water flow going in and out in the correct direction?

It's a ten inch housing and the cartridge was factory fitted. Not sure what make of resin is.The whole RO system came pre built and has been tested so no reason to think that anything is wrong.Think it might be best for me to contact John Hewitt who supplied this to me.

Find this forum really helpful with me being new to all this so just thought I would try and get some initial help on here.

Mate, I had a similar problem. The di cartridge wouldn't seal properly at the top of the housing. The cartridge is moulded in two sections & one half was slightly proud of the other meaning the seal wasn't tight & allowed some water to bypass straight through. Have #rsed about with mine every time I set it up. Spoke to pure freedom where I got it all from & apparently it's an occasional issue so have sent a replacement which is great........ if they'd sent it to the right address!! So now I've had to go knocking down the road to see if I can get it, I'm desperate! Apologies for the rant

Just ordered another meter just to be sure. Will crack on using the water at 4 and see what happens when I need to replace the di cartridge

Thanks for your help everyone

johns a really nice guy and is very helpfull, personally i've been cleaning with a tds of 18 for six months with no spotting but thats down to technique and equipment this 000ppm works for some but you can become very anal about it,theres a lot of myths about this "pure water malarky"still floating around forums

and i wouldn't worry about 004

You know what, I was doing a S/F/G including windows a few weeks back. I hooked up to the outside tap to do the rear of the property. The windows were minging so I cracked on getting all the muck off while using the tap water. I was amazed when the downstairs windows dried spot free. I still went over them with pure to make sure though.

They reckon that upto 8ppm is ok, personally would change resin when it hits 5ppm.
It depends on where you are and your water in that area

I know i can clean with 14 but choose not to but others like @spruce get spotting issues at very low ppm like 3 or 4

I suppose it depends on what solids are dissolved in your local water supply

I had spotting on my own windows at 003, having personally experiencing that as soon as my tds goes over 000 I automatically change the resin now, each to their own as so many have had different experiences.

Mines on 4 at the moment and cleaned lots in the past 3 days - when I change resin I'm back to 1. Not 0 so maybe I need to change filters?

Point is no one has complained as I always check the Windows (downstairs) and drum into them that I'm the best window cleaner I the world and that if they aren't happy - I'd be more than happy to come back and put things right... No one ever has and I tell them that - so maybe they don't want to be the first to complain ! Or maybe I am the best window cleaner in the world!!
