I have had 2 60w heaters on in the van since 6pm last night. 1 is right next to my hose reel and the other is next to my ro. Hosepipe still frozen solid . Haven't been able to get out all week due to this cold. What can I do now!

if you are lossing work sort out the leak on the real and bring it in the house or treat yourself to a spare reel if you dont want to unbolt it .

Maybe the key is not to let it freeze first?

I think if it freezes, then trying to defrost it with 120w is gonna take a long time. But if you put 120w in before anything freezes, it'd probably keep the heat up enough not to freeze.

Just my thoughts...

What I do is have a ball tap valve by the outlet of the tank, then at night run the pump until all the water is drained.

Take hose reel and pole into hose. Come the morning I have only one small section of hose which needs to be defrosted and can be done in 10 mins. Sorted /emoticons/smile.png

Iv got a 240 watt in front end of the back of van..2 reels at back end r fine..when I finish last job ..rather than disconnect the pole hose from main hose...this leaving water in main hose. I switch off machine while all is connected and leave it drain free. ...this way the pole hose and reel hose is free from most water. ..I have quilt and blankets drapped in the van to form curtains affect plus the heater and water drained. .no more missed work...im rammed at the moment and the van is like toast all night...awsome. ...

Feel for u as I went through it... thought bugger this and spent some ti.e sorting things out and now all good in da hood....

My IBC tank (only had it a month) is outside in the garden, as I have no storage for it. Used a submersfil pump to draw the water from the tank to the tank in the van... flip me, the water in the ibc tank was frozen -7 last night... That won't happen after Saturday. A friend of mine who is jack of all trades is coing and building me an outhouse with kingspan, internal electric plugs, water supply lights and a heater all getting done, along with my 40 meter hose, and 4040 all fitted nice and cosy. Only cost £750 for all the material... Bring on the cold weather...(After Saturday) that is.

Kitting out the van in Kingspan too. Got told its going to be hitting -18 soon... not again.

I've not had a problem during this cold weather  .

I think keeping the van in my centrally heated garage helps a lot though /emoticons/tongue.png nah na nanaah nah    .

Get it done mate, it's heaven working in the garage with the heating on.

The Mrs thought she was having a nice big room when I was doing the extension.....but I had other ideas /emoticons/biggrin.png .

Yeah, its coz we live out in the sticks. Water just froze on the ground this morning, so waited until midday to get some work done when the temp went up.

Bingo,I'm the same ! Every time I open the van in the morning I look like denzel Washington ! I'm gonna have to take some heaters out !

There is a window cleaner in my area who had a heated system built for him. It is heated up electrically with a range of temperatures direct from the battery.

Three outlets can have all different temperatures.
