Hi guys,

Has anyone else had any issues with the push fit connectors;  the tugging of the univalve pulled the hose out completely so have had to replace.  Not a big deal as only 95p but just wondered if anyone else has had this and whether these are the best connectors?

Also, how to you remove the 'o' clamps once they're on?  I may need to replace my univalve as I've got a leak somewhere, either in the valve itself or in the hose around it.

Thank in advance!

My univalves are o clamped on to short piece of pu tube which is then connected via push fit connectors. I’ve never replaced them yet and been on at least 18 months.

Pu or nylon tube is better to use for push fit connectors and for pulling on with univalves. Much better than gardiners all season or reinforced tube.

The issue of hoses pulling out of the JG connectors seems to me to be down to the hose you are using. If you are using PVC hose like gardiners all season you will need to fit a JG hosetail and clamp it with an O clip. However, if you are using PU hose like the Gardiners PU (orange or green) or Exceed's blue which was designed with the Univalve in mind then you might want to try not using O clips. I haven't used them in ages and never had a hose pull off the univalve.

Also I haven't had problems recently with PU hose pulling out of JG connectors either. However, when I did I just fitted JG hosetails to my hose ends.

Thanks Mark.  I don't suppose you've got a picture of these JG hosetails into the hose ends?  I'm fairly new to all this but yes you are right I'm using gardiners all season hose.

here's a link to the part,

It's worth you giving Gardiner's green PU hose a try. PU hose takes some getting used to but it's well worth it in my opinion. It's incredibly tough stuff and you may find you don't need the hosetails. If you can, before using it, run some near boiling water through it until it's supple then lay it out straight and let it cool before coiling it back up.
