To switch it off the cleaner can either rest the brush on the sill hold the pole with one hand and pull the hose with the other, or raise the pole into the upright position and hold it whilst pulling the hose which I usually do. It takes a fraction of a second.

Better if there is no wind. If there is a lot of wind I play it safe and rest the brush on the sill.

Exceed it is then, does it still work ok with my yellow hose though? Thinking I should try it before buying blue hose. If I did buy blue hose would I just need blue hose a few metres then connect to my yellow hose?

It will work alright but it will stretch and make it a bit harder to turn on and off especially in hot weather. The exceed stuff has got no stretch in it at all so makes it a lot more reliable and less of a tug.

With the exceed hose you have to pull it maybe 2cm to cut off. Other hose you will have to pull about 10cm and sometimes doesn't turn off properly.

Might sound daft but how can we tug hose from the univalve when it's clamped to univalve? Is it the univalve what stretches?

No the hose between the univalve and the bottom of the pole stretches. Can make a big difference if fully extended.

Yeah totally neutral just got experience with both types of hose. It does save a lot of frustration using a non stretch hose

Mine is double reinforced from pure freedom 5mm, I'm sure it's not stretchy compared to gardiner pole hose

I use the univalves and wouldnt be without them and carry couple in my spares box

I swaped to the exceed blue pole hose as well which made the univalve switch off with the slightest pull

The yellow gardiner pole hose was bit to stretchy and sometimes when using pole extended id have to pull the hose few times or very hard to get the univalve to work

Then why ask our opinion about the hose?

The manufacturer of the Univalve has made hose especially for his product and I'm sure he knows best. Other products may work, they might not be as good as @Eviestevie points out.

(2) I'm a bit untrustworthy on here as it was on a few week ago people on here told me the swivel valve was awesome, now I'm being told it's no good. Thus I'm just making double sure univalve is good

End of the day you are asking peoples "opinion"

Their opinion or experience may not be the same as yours

Doesn't mean someone is lying to you or leading you up the garden path

What works for some may not work for others

All i know is i have used a univalve for months now and wouldn't want to work without one now

I use the green pu hose from gardiners with mine

The univalve is in my opinion the best invention since wfp started

I have had mine fitted for along time and they get alot off use probaly 100s of pulls a day and ive never had to change one

Also once you get used to them you dont even notice your using it becomes natural

The original ones had some issues but they will always fix them if they go wrong

Good customer service

The red ones don't have that problem

I am actually using an old black one that had a problem so they rebuilt it using the newer internals

Can't fault the service you get from them

I bought three when they were introduced this time last year. All three are still in service.

I tried a Gooseneck valve for a few months and actually did prefer the way it operated without having to remove one hand from the pole. However, it began sticking on first operation each morning and due to me not rectifying this soon enough I broke a perfectly good SLX pole whilst trying to turn it on.

Though I prefer the way the Gooseneck valve operates, my vote goes to the Univalve. I now use a combination of Univalve and folding the hose to control my water. I use Gardiner's green PU hose.

Iv still got my original 3 I use there own blue hose.
