After a very long illness (insides tries to kill me) I am about to restart, my old stuff has sat for a decade.  Aim to restart with PF Nano for upstairs, using trad stuff for downstairs as I have a Citroen C3 Picasso and I think that would suffice for now.  Will get a van in a few years if I can keep up without ending up on my back again.

My old 300GPD is obviously going to need new membranes and filters.  It has three membranes, I think I could make it into a 450GPD.  It has a restrictor on it with a tap that says 600 and descale.  Would I need a different flow restrictor?  Would it make more sense to bin the lot and buy a new 450 GPD?

I have seen 4040 systems on ebay for around the £380 mark.  Could these be run as is, from normal tap (under the sink) pressure?  Any idea of litres per min that I would be able to produce with one of these as if it is fast enough I could rig something up to fill the barrels directly.

Now things get a bit more complex.  Just dragged my old 300gpd from out of a cupboard where it had been sat for over 10 years dry.  Thought sod it, lets fire her up, pretty dangerous I would think but I was going to have to either strip it down or bin it.  Caution to the wind.  OMG!  it works.  200TDS tap, after a bit of flushing and tightening a few leaks... it is on 6 TDS.   Timed how long it took to make one litre,  2 mins 40 secs :D Next I will measure the waste and maybe I can work out what ratio it is running at.

Waste is being produced at 1 litre per 2 mins.  So 160 mins for the clean side, 120 mins for the dirty side.  That is a ratio of 4:3.  four 7ths is 57%.

So it is producing 57% dirty/43% clean  almost 60/40 with a 97% efficiency.

Almost seems a shame to change the membranes now, maybe I should just change the pre-filters?

Turned it off after an hour, was still at 6 TDS.  Worked out it is going to produce 540 litres a day, so just bottoms for me then LOL. Hopefully it will still be the same or better with new filters in it. Daqua hasn't got any of the Tulsion in, so might order Purolite MB-400 instead.  I have forgot how many litres I will get out of a sack at 6 TDS, but I know it will last me quite a bit.  Need to work out how big my DI is as I have forgot, I think it is 7 litres.  Going to order trolley and pole tonight.  Things are starting to move really fast, starting to get very exited.

I use gardiner fiberdyne all in one filter even though my tds is high 340ish ATM I don't have any sediment in my water so a prefilter isn't required even though I might use one in the future.

also gardiner as a resin calculator, my mb115 tulsion resin never lasts as long what the calculations states.
