Van or trolley ?

Basically I'm staying in my current job and doing 2 days a week (once built up). I'm then going to hopefully gradually increase the cleaning and slow down my normal job. When looking at trolleys etc plus other bits required, I noticed for a grand more I can pick up a decent 2nd hand van system which will save me a lot of messing with the water at home. I'll be trading my car for a van so just an exchange of transport but with the ability to start the windows !! I don't have a spare grand to start with a decent trolley. Makes sense to me but each to their own /emoticons/wink.png/emoticons/wink.png

Yes it's possible just cleaning windows for sure. You could also earn alot more by offering addon services too.

What I would say though it is hard graft as is a very physical job that many don't realise as it looks easy.

I mostly do one-off external deep cleans that usually include clearing gutters, cleaning plastics, conservatory roofs etc. Also drive, patio & paving cleaning on all sizes of properties. What starts off as a one-off ends up being regular 12-24 monthly job.

Does anyone who uses a van system have their hose reel static in the van and able to lock the van whilst using it?

You can buy my van if you want only £2400 with a ionics system in it. years MOT. All you would need is a reel and a pole and tap water to work. /emoticons/smile.png/emoticons/smile.png/emoticons/smile.png

No I don't use my 100m minibore hose reel static in the van. Reason being I have the option to use it for tap water whilst on jobs if need be. Also would be a big disadvantage to me if the reel was fixed as it would get in my way loading and unloading my other gear.

When using my wfp gear I use the side loading door and the rest of the van doors are locked. I can also shut and lock the side door too with the hose if the mood takes me as there is enough space between the rubber seals to be able to shut the door properly.

I can understand why ppl have fixed reels inside a regular window cleaning van but for me would be just too impractical to do so.

What size tubing is microbore?

microbore inside diameter is 6mm

minibore inside diameter is 8mm

standard garden hose inside diameter is 12mm

I was told by one of the bods at purefreedom when using a hose reel better to use minibore hose than microbore as puts less strain on the pump.

Even using a van mount (trolley static in a van feeding from a tank) can be bloody hard graft but for me it sure save all that humping water about as I'm not getting any younger./emoticons/biggrin.png

Another option if you have a car with a towbar you can build and tow a wfp mount trailer instead as many have done in the past.

Maybe different for different people, see to me 25l barrels are really light, but I powerlift, so this maybe why for me filling up regularly really doesn't seem an issue at all and for others it might be?

And trailer is probably the way I will go eventually, this makes using the pick up easier than fitting a smaller baffled tank and trying to still leave room for pressure washing equipment or gutter vac etc.

A trailer would be a defo no no for me. Things get nicked, stolen cars get dumped etc etc in our road. Only last night did my Mrs clock some geezer walk up our drive and turn round and walk away when the security light came on. I texted our neighbour who is plod and he replied to the text this afternoon the thing is, he has a highly nickable car and I have a van with a fair few quids worth of kit in it.

Hi, I've done all the thinking and decided I'm going to go for it !! The big question is with the pole systems, do I get a trolley system or buy a 2nd hand van with a decent system in it ? All advice welcome. Thanks

I don't know where you work but if you work in busy area like London a van can be tricky with parking for eg. Most of my work i use trolley.
