Although times and trends change so people probably don’t think about it to much nowand just call any number and any one when they need a window cleaner.
I think there is even an argument that they’re less likely to call an 0800 number now. The younger generation moving into their first house may well have been bitten by ringing an 0845 or 0345 number in the past and being charged.

Sorry don’t understand what an 0800 number does to improve your business ? .
The way having a landline builds trust that you’re a legitimate company that won’t disappear overnight, an 0800 number does this on another level. Makes you look like a professional company.

As CGH has suggested it doesn’t limit you by area code to a specific town. If I take a work van to see my family in the north west this could become a problem though 😂.

Little do customers know you can have a landline number that is simply diverted to a mobile. I have this currently in the form of a virtual landline number. I did this after I moved house and lost my old number.

Because of the way my town and county is set out I might be better opting for an 01452 number (Gloucester) as it is feasible that a company Gloucester based would cover the entire county. At some point I intend to expand North to Worcestershire. At that point I’d break the business into 2 branches and having the 0800 number would be helpful.

This is the design I'm having done in March. I had a rebrand last year and have been meaning to get the van stickered up for ages. Just wanted something that stood out a little bit but was still simple. Hopefully it will look good in real life 😂

That looks smart and simple. What’s the damage? There’s a fair amount going on sticker wise there.

one of the best signwritten windy car i saw yrs back had a homemade card sign in back window it was artistic! i only ever saw it that day,his name was john it was a mk1 mondeo estate .probably used marker pens/acrylics .iv just remembered i made signs for my 2nd windie car using thos sunscreens that clip in the glass

£700 plus vat. I it finally thought it would need to be a wrap but the guy said he prefers to do sign writing because it's easier to replace/replicate if it gets damaged. He said wraps are notoriously difficult to colour match. I've used him before he's very good.

So here's my two peneth for what it's worth.

Don't make your signage to wordy, I mean too much detail. The more you put on your van the smaller the text is. The smaller the text the closer someone has to be to read text. Your message should be:

1) What you do
2) Your contact details
3) Personal or Company Name

That is all you need. You can go into a bit more detail on you rear doors because people will stop behind you at traffic lights, but for the side of the van what you do and how to contact you should be able to be read from the inside or someone's home.

Shout out I'M A WINDOW CLEANER and here's MY NUMBER. Job done!

Not everyone will agree I'm sure, but it works well for me...

Not the greatest pic,but an idea
I had looked at the what you'd done with your previous van as above and I went with what you'd done just a massive logo on each side across the rear doors and on the bonnet, with phone number only on the back and cab doors

I only offer window cleaning so my business name says it all as does yours and it can be easily read from 10s of metres away,

I have toyed with the addition of a QR Code so people can scan a code for contact details, but not explored this any further

Makes sense I guess. That is on the steep side though. I've found reasonable companies near me at £250-350. Anticipate they would want more of a surcharge for the extra stickers but the £350 was for a fair sized set up.

Couldn't agree more. My first van had a load of 💩 written on the back, the second one got simpler, the latest ones are just a logo, company name that has the word window cleaning in it and some contact details.

Nope. No phone number. Haven't had a phone number on a van in over 3 years. Website only, nearly all quotes come through the site. For the odd one that needs a question answering or a more customised quote, the email address is on the site.
To be fair this has its own level of professionalism. Brave in our industry with a lot of retired customers but definitely has a different type of professionalism to it.

I keep using CGH's design to describe to my wife what I want. She doesn't like it, tells me its boring haha.

Fair play. My mate paid £2200 for a half wrap from somewhere near him so I was happy with £840 including VAT. Worth noting that the stickers that he is using are quite expensive, the graphite one particularly. It has a bit of a texture to it, he did warn me it is a more expensive product. I had my last van sign written by him and I just had my logo, website and a line on the back and sides and he charged £150.

Buy cheap buy twice they say.

Honestly I've never looked back. I don't have a phone number anywhere anymore. I wanna make my life as easy as possible, I don't wanna be talking to Doris on the phone while I'm working, while she spends 10 minutes telling me her last window cleaner just disappeared 😂 you'd be surprised too how many old people don't bat and eye lid now at getting a quote online and signing up to GC or Stripe. And if they don't wanna do that, then they aren't for me.

That is a fair point. Most of mine are on autopay nowadays. I do have a few left on bank transfer from before I made automated billing a rule. I also still take cash but I can relate to what you’re saying for sure.
