A text from a customer yesterday...

Hi Jason,a window has been missed the last 2 cleans. Can you watch to do this one in the future please.

Hi Jamie, this window hasn't been missed. There is a lime scale build up from maybe a sprinkler system or hose.

I can remove using a chemical de-scaler. There would be an extra charge for this service.

What annoys me is customers firstly accuse you of doing a second rate job. Secondly they expect you to supply chemical and time to remove f.o.c.

I get a couple of messages like this this time of year. Most will realise it's there doing and happy to pay extra for removal. Others will think its included in the price. The latter **** me off.

Rant over !

Exact same thing twice last week.

Needed Viakal on them to remove the limescale. One of them was from sprinklers and they said they didn't realize it would do that to the window and have moved it back a bit. The other was really bad- I didn't realize what it was at first so spent 10mins trying to clean it with degreaser. I found out later on that day on the forum what the issue was but it was awkward as he pays online so I don't see him. I was going to leave it but I was passing by so gave it another go using Viakal this time. Took 2 go's but 95% came off.

If I'd have left it the custy would have thought I'd missed it like with you despite giving it a deep clean.

Did you charge the customer ?

I use Viakal for light build up  and it does the job brilliantly.

This window had days of sprinkler use poss during the recent heatwave, it was like a white wash on the glass. Viakal I doubt would touch it. I have found a heavy duty de-scaler 'Sani-acid` if he wants to pay of course !

No I didn't end up charging extra.

The first one wasn't too bad and they made sure it won't happen again (was a pretty good price anyhow).

The second one I would have charged extra had he been at home but with him being out I had to decide whether to clean it properly or not. I decided to but didn't feel right charging extra on the direct debit without his prior knowledge. I kind of used it as a learning experience.

Next time I get one like that though I'll explain to the customer it needs a restoration not a clean and charge extra.
